It was only in the middle of Science Class the next day after that Joyce had a thought. "The weapon is the key!"
Beside her, Michael flinched in surprise and accidentally dropped his pen to the floor. Grunting, he bent to pick it up before turning to her with an annoyed glare.
"Oh, don't give me that look", Joyce chided with a sweatdrop. "It's just that I figured out another way to see who Alex and Florence's killer is!"
Michael raised an eyebrow. "Based on what you just yelled, I'm guessing that the way you thought of is to find where the killer got the weapons he or she used from. Am I right?"
Joyce scratched the back of her head sheepishly. "Yeah! We only need two, right? A knife and...some sort of blunt and heavy object."
The reincarnation of Richard the Lionhearted nodded. "Yes. However, how are we even supposed to know where the killer, or killers got them from?"
At this, Joyce frowned. She looked down thoughtfully. "Good point..."
With that, the unnamed reincarnation went back to writing Science formulas in her notebook as Ma'am Katya continued to teach.
Just then, Sandy turned to Joyce and grinned. "You're t-trying to find where the killer might have gotten their p-possible weapons, right? I have an idea for that."
Joyce blinked in surprise, before leaning towards the reincarnation of Amelia Earhart rather eagerly. "I'm all ears."
Michael listened in as the two girls discussed amongst themselves, all the while Ma'am Katya continued to teach, blissfully unaware of what was currently happening.
It went on from there.
😅
Joyce really thought that this would work.
Sandy's suggestion was valid. After all, all the murders had happened during recess, meaning that the weapons must have come from somewhere in the school.
And sure, there might be a possibility that the culprit had bought the weapons and simply just brought it with them, but with all the security the school has, it's less likely.
So, since she was sure that the knife was one of the murder weapons, and it was used yo kill Alex, Joyce went to the Cookery Lab during recess.
Fortunately, nobody was using it, and only a single teacher with jaw-length black hair and an honest appearance was residing there.
It made her a bit nervous to talk to her, since she didn't know this teacher yet, but if it meant finally shining a light on the identity of the killer...
"Good morning, ma'am", Joyce went up to the teacher and bowed politely, successfully getting her attention.
The teacher smiled. "Good morning. What can I do for you?"
"Well...", Joyce quickly ran over the plan she and Sandy agreed with. "I was just wondering...has any student borrowed any utensils here in the past week, from the beginning of the school until now?"
It just made sense; where else would the killer get that knife without that thing confiscated from you except the Cookery Lab?
The teacher hummed thoughtfully as she started to go through the papers in her desk. "From what I can remember, Courtney Heuser borrowed about 3 plates and a glass. Kem Lucero took a colander, too. Someone also borrowed a knife, which she said that she wanted to slice a cake for. Then, there was also Janine Alarcón who--"
"Wait", Joyce made her stop. "Someone took a knife?"
The teacher nodded confusedly and gestured to the knife rack nearby. A knife with a black handle, the one that she remembered was seen in the crime scene before it disappeared, was in there. "A student borrowed it, then returned it during lunch a few days ago. Why?"
