Gail figured it could have been worse.
They could be thrown out of their homes. Or their previous lives could have been supervillains and they'd have to live as outcasts.
Or they could be stuck in a situation with no escape and be forced to kill each other like that show called Danganronpa...
Oh, wait.
"Guys, I think Gail's disassociating from reality", Khea snorted.
The reincarnation of Anne Boleyn giggled, before hitting Khea jokingly with her elbow. "Shut it, you."
Watching them, Moselle gave a little giggle. "At least moments like these never change, huh?"
"Yeah", Gail smiled, albeit in a bittersweet way. "At least..."
After all, the three of them had been in the same school ever since elementary. They also spend time together with Joyce and...
And with Bea. Who was also counted as one of the ones who died.
Moselle let her head fall over the couch as she lied upside down. This was her house, after all, so she couldn't care less. "How many of us have died, anyway?"
Khea sighed, before recalling. "Well, it was only Alex at first. Then, Florence followed, and after that, Shanell, and after that...after her, Bea. Then, finally, Rasheed."
"We were a total of 44 students, right?", Gail tilted her head. "So, what--we're 40 students now?"
"Seems like it", Khea shrugged. Moselle reached out and attempted to grab the open Pepsi bottle at their table--
There was a sudden knock at the door, which caused them all to violently flinch. Moselle, however, fell to the ground and to their carpet. "Agh!"
Khea leaned over from her side of the living room to look at her in concern. "M-Moselle, are you okay?"
A groan. "I'm fine...!"
Thankfully, the Pepsi didn't spill, so there wasn't anything that got ruined.
The reincarnation of Leo Tolstoy stood up, walked over to Moselle, and helped the reincarnation of Mary Shelly up as Gail watched, before she turned to the door. I wonder what that was...maybe a couple of troublesome kids?
After all, kids who just knock on doors or ring doorbells randomly just for fun were still common right now. If she would walk towards the door without any reason at all because of them, then it would be extremely annoying.
Plus, she wanted to eat more of these creampuffs.
Just before she could grab one, though, another knock sounded from the door. It was louder, this time.
"I think you should get it, Gail", Moselle called out as she sat up straight on the couch again.
Gail shrugged, before standing up and going to the door. Eh, why not?
However, she was not ready to see who was on the other side.
And apparently, neither did Khea and Moselle.
"HOLY GUACAMOLE!", Khea shrieked, moving away from her side and jumping over the table to hide behind it.
Moselle just gaped, before slowly waving. "H...hi..."
With a hoodie covering her black hair and most of her features except for her eyes that had turned Ominous Yellow, Bea grinned at them, apparently back from the dead. "Hey, guys. Miss me?"
Gail couldn't process it all, so her brain stopped working, and she promptly fainted. "GAIL!"
Bea caught her before her head hit the ground, though. Then, she sheepishly giggled. "Maybe I shouldn't have just suddenly barged in like this..."
😲
The day they were allowed to go to school again, they met up early in the morning at the store near the school, before going inside the school and to their classroom as quickly as possible.
When Nadhine was sure that everyone was inside, she had quickly shut the door and locked it. Sachi did the same to the other door at the back.
Then, Gail watched as both of them moved to the front, before Nadhine took the initiative. "So, we agreed to meet up here this early to figure out who might have killed Rasheed Menendez. Anyone want to share what they had thought of as a lead for the case for now?"
Hans immediately stood up, and he went in front. The two students made way for him as he nervously started. "S-so, we found Rasheed in an alleyway, right?"
Yanyan nodded with a raised eyebrow.
"W-well, Joyce, Michael, Errol and I actually stayed behind to investigate, and we found a lot of things", Hans gestured to both Joyce and Michael to come forward. "And we...found a couple of things."
Joyce refused to move to the front, but she did stand and address the class. "Firstly, the mess we found, with the toppled garbage cans and everything, clearly shows a struggle between him and the culprit."
"The huge garbage can that toppled over seemed to be when Rasheed had succeeded in fighting back the culprit", Michael didn't stand, but he did offer his own two cents. "Since we saw marks on it that could only be prints from Rasheed's shoes."
"Beyond that", Errol sneered as he brought out a plastic ziplock bag containing a knife. It was stained with blood, judging from the red stuff in it. "We found the murder weapon."
The class stared at it in awe.
"Okay, so you found the weapon", Nadhine smiled, before gesturing them to go on. "So, have you found the culprit's identity?"
Hans, Joyce and Errol shared tense looks.
Michael took a deep breath, before slowly announcing. "It was me."
There was a beat. The class looked at each other, before turning back to him.
"Say, what?", Joyce was confused, too.
Hans' eyebrows furrowed. "Michael, what are you--"
"Before we could get to that", Khea suddenly stood up and hurriedly put a hand to Errol's shoulder to calm him down if ever he'll decide to kill Michael himself. "Moselle, Gail and I actually found out who the mastermind is!"
Immediately, the attention turned to them.
"Really?", Ashi gasped. "Who?"
Gail was super excited to reveal this part, so she stood up. "Well, actually, it's not us that actually found it out on our own, but rather...!"
Suddenly, the front door was kicked down. Everyone screamed in surprise.
A familiar girl with loosely tied up hair wearing their uniform and having Ominous Yellow eyes casually strolled in and walked past Hans to stand in front of them. "Hi! Bea's back, everyone! Miss me, *****?"
There was a single, solitary beat.
Ysa casually noted. "Huh. So, that's why she never appeared as a ghost."
Everyone screamed.
