Ch. 5

As soon as we got to a cafe, he opened the door for me and he even held the chair open for me. Not even Brad was like that.

"Thank you. How are you so nice?" I asked him and he chuckled.

"I guess my ma taught me right." He smiled making me blush.

"Welcome. My name is Anna and I'll be your waitress for today. What would you like to drink?" The waitress asked.

"Ladies first." Bucky smiled.

"Can I please get some Iced Tea...." I said making her nod.

"Can I get some coke? Thanks." He said and she walked away.

"So, is there anything in the menu that you like?" He asked and I looked over the menu.

Cheeseburgers..... that's a maybe.

Double cheeseburger...... another maybe.

Waffles..... not today.

Pancakes.... nooooo.

"I really want the double cheeseburger..." I said and adjusted my glasses.

"Then you can go ahead and order it. I'm here if you don't want to talk." Bucky smiled and I nodded.

"What are you getting?"

"Oh. I'm definitely getting the double cheeseburger with some fries, and maybe even mozzarella sticks on the side." Bucky sounded like a kid who got a Christmas present making me laugh.

"You sound happy." I giggled.

"I am happy." He smiled making me turn red.

"Soooooo...." he trailed off as he put the menu down.

"Soooooo...." I smiled.

"Soooooooooooooo...." He said making me laugh.

"Soooooooooooooooooo....." I smiled making him laugh.

"I was thinking, would you like to go ice skate? The team were talking about it last night but you went to your bedroom. Steve or Banner is probably goin to ask you today." He said and I sighed.

"You see... about that... I can't skate." I said making him nod.

"I can teach you...." He said but I smiled.

"No, it's okay. I'm just going to stay home. Plus every time I go out, people stare at me like if I'm some kind of.... whale..." I said and he frowned.

Great job Esperanza. Always ruining shit with your mouth.

"I'm sorry." I quickly said.

"It's fine. You should still come." He said and I nodded.

"Here are your drinks. And are you guys ready to order?" The waitress said and both of us nodded.

"Ladies first." He smiled and I blushed.

"Can I please get the double cheeseburger with fries?"

"Sure. And you sir?"

"I would like the triple cheeseburger with fries and mozzarella on the side." He smiled making her nod and she took our menus.

When she walked away, Bucky put his elbows on the table and stared at me. I awkwardly gave him a smile and looked out the window.

"I'm just going to stay home. You can go and have fun with the team." I said while I looked down.

Why do I have to be so awkward?

"But—"

"Here you go and I hope you have an amazing afternoon." The waitress gave us our food and then walked away.

He looked at me. I looked at him. We both began to eat and then chat.

After we were done, we were having a debate on who should pay on the lunch.

"I want to pay." I said causing him to shake his head and then he took out his wallet.

"I was the one that suggested it so..." he smiled and I sighed.

"Pero yo lo quiero hacer. Eso es tan difícil de comprender?" I said making him smirk.

(But I want to do it. Is that so hard to understand?)

"I understand Spanish doll. Nice try though. Wait for me here." He said and got up to pay the check.

I sat for a few minutes and then he came back. We both headed out and as usual he opened he door for me first.

Why aren't there more guys like Bucky or Steve?

We headed to the Compound and he explained that tomorrow we will continue to do the exercises making me mentally protest but nodded nonetheless.

I really, really, REALLY, was a lazy person. Like you could do anything in the world and I'll still protest. But if it was food then heck yes. I'm really trying to get myself in check but it was difficult knowing that your conscience can trick you.

Bucky and I said goodbye to one another and headed to a different part of the Compound. I decided to go to the lab. I saw dad working with Tony, like usual, and just sat on one of the stools that were nearby.

"Hey sweetheart. What's up?"

"Not much I just wanted to hang out with you." I smiled making him chuckle.

"Or do you want us to buy something for you." Tony smirked making me throw him the nearest object at him.

"Hey! That was something dangerous. You need to be careful." Dad said making me sigh and roll my eyes.

"So, I heard you guys are going ice skating. I'm not going." I said making Tony look at me.

"Why."

"Because I don't know how to skate and because I don't want to." I replied.

"Fine."
