The Assassins Touch

Chapter Ten.

"What happened?" Beca asked.

"I went and interrogated her, like I planned. But during it, it's like a hidden part of her crack open. She suddenly showed no fear. And some pretty good fighting prowess. She then said Whatever. My Master knows all. And when he finds out about this, you're dead. So I used a short term memory erasing drug. I didn't wanna risk pissing someone else off" She explained and Beca nods.

"You did the right thing. With knowing very little, we don't want to be risking anything. We need to focus on our mission. And we need to find out what this Tectonic plate machine is. It doesn't sit well with me" Beca sighed as she ran her hand through her hair.

"I've tried to get into contact with some Light members about it, but they are as much in the dark as us. Our best bet would be the division leader. Known as Uriel. But they are barely in the states. I think the closest we get is in about a month, they were set to visit the Science Lab here in Atlanta. I could try to trail him. Security is easy to access with Light ID." Emily says and Beca nods.

"Yeah. If we can get a location on the labs, we can see if we can find this machine, and whatever else the Light is working on." Beca says. "Can you do it without a trace? If we need to take Uriel out, we don't need a trail back to you" Beca says and Emily nods.

"I can just use someone else's ID, I just need access once to the Lights Mainframe and I can get a link to a ghost IP so we remain hidden, all the trail will lead to is whoever ID I take" Emily tells Beca who nods with a smile.

"We have tommorow off. So let's get some well needed rest. Then we will go do something fun" Beca shrugs, a small smile forming on Emily's lips at the sound of relaxing for a whole day.

"Hey Beca, I just wanna say thanks for all you've done. You've really changed my life. I was living a lie. But now, I know we work for something right. I've said it before, my loyalty is with you. Always." Emily tells Beca, who smiles at the fall brunette before pulling her into a hug.

"You too, Em. The Shadows might be my work, but you are my family"l Beca admits. However the mission goes. No matter what, Beca was certain she would have Emily. It was wierd. At the start of this mission, she never expected it to get so complicated. For her to find someone to care for. She understood dying for the cause. She had always been willing to do that. But never for just one person.

Hell, she would leave the Shadows to protect Emily. And she felt after this mission, if Emily is found out. It might come to that. "We should get some rest" Beca says as she stood up, Emily nods as she slides into her covers and Beca does the same.

"I forgot to ask, how was your night with Chloe?" Emily asked, causing Beca to smile at the night she had with Chloe.

"It was... Nice. I wasn't the assassin tonight. I was just... Beca." She said, looking over at Emily who had a warm smile.

"From what I know about the Shadows, being yourself is not usual. So I'm happy you were able to do it. I hope you can do it more, Becs." Emily says before reaching for her lamp and turning it off, Beca doing the same.

Chloe hadn't gone back to her dorm that night. She wondered the streets, as if she didn't know where she was going. But she did. As she turns down an alleyway her eyes scan the surrounding area, noticing a figure on the shadows.

"You could of hidden better" She says as she heard a chuckle from the shadows as they step forward. It was Jesse.

"Well you wanted to know who attacked the science divisions meeting last night. Well I now know. It was Beca." Jesse tells her, and she nods slowly.

"I thought so" She sighs as she runs her hand through her hair.

"Emily was with her. We were right, she has Defected. To the Shadows or just to Beca, we don't know." Jesse explains.

"I gathered that. I hope she is loyal to Beca and not the Shadows. I was right about Beca though. She has never been able to openly be herself. It's making her... Good. I mean, I would of preferred if she didn't kill our inside agent. But we know that the Light is up to no good. So the less of them, the better." Chloe says and Jesse nods in agreement.

"So we are hiding from the Light, and you have a Shadow assassin on you. And we have Aubrey, a sleeper agent for either side." Jesse goes over.

"The Light have no idea we are still alive. the Shadows are just shooting in the dark. And you know I chose to become a Bella to keep an eye on Aubrey. I can't tell what she is though." Chloe explains.

"and what about Beca?" Jesse asks.

"I can bring her over. I just need more time."

"You're falling for her, aren't you?" Jesse asks and Chloe nods, not even trying to hide it.

"I hope the feeling is mutual, Chloe. If we get her and Emily on side, we can seriously damage both the Light and the Shadows in one fine swoop." Jesse says.

"I know. I need a few more months, Jesse. I need to make sure I know she will come to us. And you need to see if you can get anywhere with Aubrey. You've charmed enough girls to know how to do it." Chloe grins as Jesse rolls his eyes.

"Yes ma'am." Jesse mocks a salute. The two share a small laugh with each other.

"You know, it's wierd. I never saw myself coming to University. I always thought that we would always be hiding. But you were right. We have to take an offensive. We are the only ones who know what the Light are really like" Jesse says, rubbing his shoulder subconciously. Chloe takes his hand in her own to get his attention.

"And you can bet your ass we will take them down, Jesse. They will pay for what they put us through." Chloe tells Jesse. Her hands were tight on Jesse's as he nods. "We're the only ones left. The last of Guardian Angels. We represent what the Light use to be. Before the Arch Angel changed. Remember that."

"Well we best split, we don't want any unwanted attention. You work Beca, I'll work Aubrey. Hopefully we learn something."Jesse says before disappearing Into the shadow casted by the building above. Chloe regaining herself before going in the opposite direction.

So, we know more of what Chloe is now. And Jesse. Do you think Chloe will be able to pull Beca from the Shadows? So obviously the next chapter will fast forward a few months. Beca will have gotten alot closer to Chloe in these past few months is more or less all you need to know.
