Woken up by her alarm Sthandiwe groan underneath her blankets and tried to turn it off. She felt like she's been asleep for only two hours which she did since she spent a lot of time thinking about Kabelo. They had spoken on the phone for a while when he had called her to find out if she was asleep or not.Talking to him had left her reminiscing about the moment they had a few hours back and the dreams she's been having about him.
Her alarm had been ringing for a while and she ignored it and it was tolerable for the first twenty minutes but twenty minutes more it got irritating. She turned it off and stayed buried underneath the blankets dozing off to sleep again.About two and a half hours later she was woken up again by ringing but this this it was from her phone. She quickly retrieved it from her night stand and answered.
"...Hello..."
"Sthandiwe..!"said Vivian's voice.
"Yeah..."
"Finally i've been calling you for a while and you weren't picking up...are okay?"she asked.
"Okay?oh yeah yeah I'm okay. I'm sorry I must have not heard it. Do you need something?"sitting up straight on her bed Sthandiwe yawned."No I don't but you haven't arrived at work so I just wanted to check on you." Said Vivian.
"No I'm good I just over slept..."she yawned." I'll be there soon,"
"Okay call if you need anything,"said Vivian."Thanks I will...and please apologize to Daniel on my behalf..." Sthandiwe said giggling.
"No he says it's okay he knew you would be in late so he got Alan to stand in for you in you're morning meeting,"replied Vivian.
"That's great...see you soon then,"said Sthandiwe dropping the call.
She was happy to not be in trouble at work. Jumping out of bed after seeing the time was 09:10 and ran to the bathroom. Stripping her clothes in the bathroom ready to take a shower she then remembered the events of last night with Kabelo.
Each and every detail of what happened came flooding back to her. How he held on to her with his big strong arms pressing her slender body to his. Everything about him seemed so perfect despite the little she knew about him and it was for that fact that she wanted to spend more time with him.But was she exaggerating this whole situation again? She thought about it comparing the only other time she felt that way about a man with a pretty face and the outcomes of that weren't pretty at all. Could she be making the same mistake again with the hasty development of feelings and attraction for Kabelo? But then again her mother did say not all men are the same. Maybe Kabelo could be different but him hurting her in any sort of way intentional or unintentional was inevitable.
Mentally smacking herself back to reality she realised it was a bit too soon to even be thinking of her future with Kabelo. She did meet him only a few nights ago and nothing more. Whether they shared a cup of hot chocolate for a night and sort of made out just last night, none of that guaranteed their union as more than what they were to each other now...just admirers.
She told herself to stop daydreaming about Kabelo for a second and get ready. After getting dressed she rushed to the kitchen for a quick cup of coffee where she met a letter with her car keys on the table and it was from Kabelo.
"Just as promised, here are the keys to your car. Since you weren't answering your phone I figured you must still be asleep so I let myself in."
Kabelo.
Something about that made her feel happy but she quickly recovered and focused on getting to work. Dismissing her thought of calling him she made her way down stairs eager to get to work and found her car by the sidewalk instead of her regular spot but just on the other side of the building. When she entered the car and buckled her seatbelt something about the car felt different. She had last sat in it only last night but it felt like it was her first time riding it. This was mostly due to the new fascinating smell in her car,it smelled of Kabelo. His scent lingered in her car like it belonged to him and he's been driving it for years. She was constantly reprimanding herself at the thoughts of Kabelo while driving to work. Luckily due to her drifting in and out of thoughts about Kabelo she arrived at work a lot sooner than she'd anticipated.
