"Hello Sthandiwe..." he said standing just two feet away from her his tone deviously innocent and calm like always. She looked at him and felt horrible pain in her chest recalling their past together.

"Wow..." he said trying to lessen the awkwardness between them. "You still look as beautiful as ever I see..."

"What do you want?" she asked fiercely as she gathered courage to be civilized and not lash out at him.

"Can we talk?"

He eyed her from head to toe confirming his his statement about her beauty, she still looked as beautiful as he remembered her.

"Please..." he begged seeing her hostile expression. "Please just for a few minutes then you'll never have to see me again."

For a second she thought how easy it would be to give him a slap or two and then walk out of there but she was starting on a clean slate. She wanted him to say his peace and get out of her life as soon as possible because if he wanted her back he was dead wrong on that matter because she was now starting a new life and he sure wasn't going to be a part of it in any way. She took a long deep breath and looked at him as he gestured to a table a few feet behind her and they walked there and took a seat.

"I didn't think you'd come,"

"I could just leave right now then," she snapped.

"No don't leave please," he begged as she gave him the speak now or I'm gone look.

"So, how are you..."Phila asked.

"I'm doing very fine as you can see...now tell me what you want before I walk out of here without any hesitations," she brutally answered.

"I want to say I'm sorry. "he said sincerily and she looks at him in disbelieve.

"That's it...you're sorry?"

"Yes I'm sorry Sthandiwe,"he said but Sthandiwe quickly interrupted him.

"You're sorry... " She laughed hysterically at him. "After three years Phila, three years that's when you realise you are sorry. What are you sorry for Phila?" she clenched her fists tightly underneath the table fuming with anger.

"For everything Sthandiwe...I am terribly sorry for everything I put you through I really am." he said.

"For everything you've done to me. After three years you've just realised now that you did me wrong?" she asked trying hard to fight back the tears filling up in her eyes. "Really Phila? "

"Yes...no...I mean no I didn't just realise it now." he said starring deep into her eyes that were full of nothing but resentment for him. "I realised it the moment you walked out of the door and out of my life. I realised then what I had done and what I had lost. You had told me to get help and I did. I went to a psychiatrist and got the help I needed to be strong, strong enough to give you the space you needed and not to come after you. I spent many nights thinking about it...about how easy it would be for me to do it...to show up at your doorstep and not leave until you talked me even if you called the cops..."

She laughed a little in disbelieve even though she knew he would have really done it.

"So I restrained myself and endured the torture of being away from you, of waking up without you by my side..." he said his voice reflective of his emotions but she wasn't going to fall for it again.

"Phila I've been through this talk with you many times before and I'll be queen of idiots if I fall for it again now so please tell me what you want before I walk out of here!" she said fiercely.

"Sthandwa I have changed..." he said as she snapped at him.

"Don't call me that!"

"Okay I'm sorry. I really have changed and I am deeply sorry for everything I've done. I want to start over with my life knowing I've made peace with you because you are still very important to me."
