Cody led the group through the twisting halls of the lab and down to the bottom floor. After arranging them in a cluster, he began to speak.

"Alright. I suck at pep talks, but here goes. You know what? Skip the cheesy inspirational pep talk. This is it. Sloane, Seb, Micah, you're with me. You guys are offence. Sammy B, Braylen, you guys are defence. Protect against whatever other threats the Mother might induce. Ok, is everyone ready? Got your jobs?" Cody asked, sounding almost like a military general. A murmured "yes" came in return.

After hearing this, Cody went to find his team some weapons. He figured he probably should've thought about this before, but after the whole Mindy drama, it never crossed his mind. So a few minutes later, Cody found himself in the contaminated room filled with barrels on the second floor that he had discovered the first or second time he came to the lab. Maybe this stuff was of use against the Mother. The first thing that had come to his mind was the vaccine, but there wasn't enough time to make more. Speaking of time, Cody wondered if there was a time limit for his battle. How long would it be before the Mother's power took over everyone in the town? How long would it be before the vaccine wore off? So many things he hadn't even thought about before. Shaking his head to clear out the worrisome thoughts, Cody returned to finding something to fight against the Mother. He read the labels on the barrels of who-knows-what. All they said was "CAUTION: TOXIC". He glanced around at the rest of the barrel, taking careful note of the icon plastered on: a neon sign with a picture of some sort of alien plant with a cross through it. He assumed that meant don't add to the plants... But why? Would it kill them? He had to take the risk, so he went to find a container to put the contents of the barrel inside.

Cody looked around the room, and found something on the far side of the room. Not a container... it almost looked like... a trapdoor? Cody's mind started making up wild theories about what it could be, and to calm them, he approached it, and attempted to pry it up, only to discover it was stubborn. He gave up after that, and made a mental note to check it out later. He thought he heard almost a cry coming from it, but he concluded it was just a piece of his imagination after not hearing anything but silence from it in returning to search for something to put the barrels of... stuff in.

Upon a minute or two of further searching, Cody discovered containers that looked like what you would put bug spray in but mixed with a leafblower. It was fairly odd, but it would have to do. He tested the trigger quickly, and the leafblower-hybrid-thing squirted out a stream of air. Cody nodded and started filling the odd containers with the (terrible smelling) mixture of liquids. He then took the containers downstairs to the rest of the group, handing one to each member.

When Cody handed Braylen the weapon, Braylen still looked mostly confused, but there was some... sense of purpose. Cody was surprised and pleased; Braylen looked so determined to fight for a town that wasn't even his. Cody wondered what his motivation was. Maybe it was saving the innocent people of this town. Maybe it was his need to protect his best friend.

After handing out the containers, he instructed everyone on his made up way of how to work them. It was pretty self explanatory. After he finished, it was time for battle. He led his team into the large, stadium-like room and gave them positions.

"We meet again," he told the Mother, who roared at him in response.
"You wanna fight? Oh, I'll give you a fight," Cody threatened, gesturing for his crew to get into position.
"CHARGE!" he yelled over the sound of metal doors creaking open on the sides. He noticed possessed people filtering in through the doors, and Braylen and Sammy fighting them. Micah was spraying the monster with a look on his face so fierce he might've been fighting a dragon. Well, close enough. Sloane and Seb were watching each other's backs, somehow from the other side of the room. Cody could tell they were glancing at each other to make sure the other was ok constantly.

Cody, on the other hand, was simultaneously watching his team fight and observing the Mother's behavior. The weapons they were using seemed to do damage, so that was lucky. Cody was pleased with that.

Suddenly, the Mother lashed a tentacle out at Cody. He jumped back in surprise, and the Mother's tentacle missed him by an inch. His adrenaline was on a high now, and he sprayed the Mother right in the face. She turned her attention to him and lashed out again. This time, Cody was swept off his feet and he landed on his back. His adrenaline was still pumping madly, so he barely felt anything as he got up and sprayed one of the Mother's tentacles. She seemed to be getting... slower, Cody realized. She was dying.

Suddenly, a very loud gasp echoed through the room, followed by a cry of fear. Apparently, Sloane had been knocked out by one of the creatures and Seb had cried out as soon as he saw her down. Seb, obviously not thinking, rushed over to her. Cody didn't have time to focus on that though, so he turned his attention back to the Mother. It was a mad game of swipe and spray now.

Swipe. Lurch back. Spray. Repeat.

Cody had been playing her twisted game for what felt like an eternity when the Mother finally roared her loudest roar yet, one that shook the metal around them and sent her possessed followers flying to the floor, and collapsed. Cody yelled out a tired cry of victory and then looked around the room. Braylen and Sammy were fine. In fact, Sammy was running over to hug a tired Micah and celebrate with him while Braylen wiped the sweat off his forehead and sat down against a wall. Seb was trying to wake Sloane up from her unconsciousness and failing, judging by his expression, she was alive. Cody, on the other hand, felt half dead. His adrenaline had finally worn off after a tiring battle and his feet collapsed under him, sending him to a sitting position on the floor. He could feel his back aching terribly and his feet pounding from his seemingly endless jumping back and forth to avoid the Mother's grasp.

They might all have felt pretty terrible and sore, but they had won. They had defeated the Mother once and for all.
