"Isn't it crazy," Sammy asked the group, "how quickly we went back to normal after everything?"
"It is..." Braylen agreed.
"Yeah," Cody said.
"Mhm..." Micah nodded.
Everyone in the group had moved on, gone back to normal, in their own ways. Micah was taking care of his toddler and had obviously stopped doing jobs for Mindy. Sammy had gone back to his playful friendship with Braylen (with a small side of romance). Braylen was still trying to work out his feelings and, Sammy assumed, was probably pretending the whole ordeal with the Mother never happened. Cody had started an internship as a scientist, and was working tirelessly. Seb and Sloane had moved up the ranks in the military with a promotion, which the group was celebrating with a night out at the newly renovated 8 Bells Bar and Grill.
"That's it," Cody reveled, "the end of the Mother..."
"It's crazy," Sammy admitted.
"Something so strong gone so fast," Braylen added.
"Yeah," Seb said.
"It is sorta weird... hey, Cody? There's no way she can come back... right?" Sloane asked, her voice on edge.
"No, not as far as I know," Cody answered. But he looked on edge too now.
"Are you sure?" Sammy asked.
"Yeah. Nothing could happen. What would bring her back to life anyways?" Cody wondered out loud.
"I don't know, you're the scientist," Sammy said.
"I'm just an intern. I'm not an expert, although I have been studying the Mother. She's got an interesting chemical-" Cody said.
"Nobody needs to hear sciency stuff," Seb said jokingly.
"Fine," Cody sighed.
"Now, I swear, these must be the best burgers in town," Seb commented.
"Definitely," Sloane said, and a chorus of agreement followed.
"We should come here more often," Seb said. Another chorus of agreement.
"How about every Saturday?" Braylen suggested with a smile.
"Sounds good to me," Cody said. Everyone else agreed.
"It's settled, then," Braylen said, "8 Bells every Saturday. And cheers--" Braylen raised his glass of root beer-- "to the Mother's death."
"Cheers!" the group echoed, raising their glasses.
