Chapter 13: Botaniphobia and A Broken Trailer (Sammy, P. 2)

Hey, Sammy, his phone buzzed in his pocket with a text as he and Braylen made it inside the small diner. He pulled it out to glance at the message then texted back,
Whats up, Cody?

Uh, theres some plants in ur plumbing. As in sink and toilet. Should i clean it out?

Cody then sent a picture of some weird looking purple and pink plants sprouting out of the sink and in the toilet bowl.

Sammy felt repulsed. Ew. Why were there plants growing in his toilet and sink? He looked up from his phone to find Braylen walking towards the waiter who was leading them off to a table. The waiter, whose name tag indicated he was called Jasper, handed them each menus then walked away.

Sammy had hoped Braylen wouldn't bring up last night, and he didn't, and Sammy figured he wouldn't. Knowing Braylen, he would have brought it up already if he wanted to talk about it. Despite this, Sammy couldn't help but notice how Braylen looked at hum slightly differently.

"So, whatchu gonna get?" Braylen asked Sammy, glancing up from his menu.
"Dunno... I read some Yelp reviews and apparently the burgers are really good... Mighy try the avacado and bacon burger."
"Sounds good, I'm thinking about trying the signature burger."
"Ooh, I--" Sammy began, then shut up as soon as Jasper returned.

"Can I start you off with some drinks?" Jasper asked, and the click of a pen could he heard. Jasper looked expectatantly at Sammy.
"I'll get a lemonade, please," Sammy said with a smile.
"Water for me," Braylen said.
"Alright, are you two ready to order?" Jasper asked. Sammy nodded and Jasper turned his head to him.
"I'll get the bacon and avocado burger," Sammy said.
"Alright, fries or chips with that?" Jasper asked.
"Fries, please," Sammy replied.
"And you?" Jasper asked Braylen.
"I'll get the signature burger."
"Fries with that?"
"Yes."
"Alright, I'll be back with your orders soon." Jasper said, taking both boys' menus and walking away. After a minute or two, he came back with a lemonade and a water. Sammy slammed the straw on the table, slipping the outer paper off. He sipped the lemonade-- and it was really good! He could tell it wasn't just store-bought. Braylen sipped his water as Sammy watched the liquid diminish in the cup.

"Anything going on in StrangerVille at the moment?" Braylen asked, still sipping his water.
"Nothing much, other than the occasional sick person walking around," Sammy said.
"Boring town, eh?"
"Depends on the day, really."
"Ooh, how so?"
"Well, some days the number of sick people seems to increase-- especially over the past few days..."
"What do you mean by sick anyways?"
"It's weird, like weird-weird. They walk crazy and their faces are almost inhuman."
"What the--" Braylen was cut off when Jasper came back with the food. He set down both plates of burgers in front of the respective boys and both boys started digging in immediately. Their faces said they loved it.

"This is really good!" Sammy said, his mouth still full of burger. He swallowed it self-consciously.
"Yeah," Braylen replied, having already swallowed his first bite.
Suddenly, their eating was disrupted by a black haired woman pounding on the glass.

A possessed black haired woman.

"ŦĦ€ ΜØŦĦ€Ř ĆΔŁŁŞ ¥ØỮ ŦØ ĴØƗŇ ỮŞ," she said through the glass, smiling her iconic creepy smile.

"Sammy... Is that what you were talking about...?" Braylen said, slowly getting out of his seat and slowly backing up towards the wall farthest from the window.

"Y- yeah... It was..." Sammy backed up as well. Both of them were now against the back wall as the black haired woman moved towards the door.

She pounded open the door, shattering the glass in it. Just as she walked in, her face returned to normal, but she looked sort of mad and uncomfortable.

"Why are you all looking at me like that?"
