Chapter Two: Talk

"Mum, I'm here!" Yells (Y/N) as she walks into her mother's home.

She doesn't live with her mother and her father, she has her own small apartment that she pays for.

The rent isn't that bad so she found a job and works with it. When someone asks her why she moved out, she always says 'I need more freedom,' which she feels is true. She's only there today because her mother called for help.

"Something smells good." She mumbles, walking into the kitchen. The sight of almost a whole feast set out in front of her, makes her heart eyes appear in place of her original bright, brown ones . "You know, I love you so much, Mum." She says, eyes not moving away from the food.

Ms. (L/N) laughs. "Not for you, my dear." (Y/N) frowns at the sentence.

"But, Mum--"

"But-nothing. This is for the dinner with Bang's and Kim's. Didn't Seungmin or Chan tell you?" Her mum asks, turning back to the stove to stir whatever was in the pot.

(Y/N) quickly sneaks her hand into the cookie jar and pulls out two cookies, hiding the cookies behind her back like a child when her mum turns back around. "No."

"Strange. Unless...Mrs. Bang didn't inform the two."

"Like you didn't inform me?" (Y/N) mumbles, heading back out of the kitchen.

"Exactly." Her mum smirks.

(Y/N) rolls her eyes secretly and walks to her old room, plopping her bag on the ground and throwing herself on the bed next to the bag.

She sighs and rolls over to reach the black backpack. "Homework, right." She sighs again, knowing she was a full-on procrastinator. She drops the bag and stands up, taking her black school jacket off and heading to the bathroom to take a hot shower. "Today was a long day."

(Y/N) walks out of the shower, does her face routine, brushes her teeth and dresses in black and white sweats and her cute, black bunny slippers. She jumps down on her bed again and stares at the backpack, groaning.

An idea pops in her mind, knowing who to call at moments like this. She searches her pocket and pulls out her phone successfully. She punches in her lock-code with her finger, unlocking it before heading to her call app.

She presses a particular number and calling it, hearing the ring of the phone.

"Hello?"

"Chan, hey! I may need your help with something."

"(Y/N), do your homework before I come over there and make you do it."

"But I don't want to."
She whines and pouts.

"Do I really have to give this speech again?"

"Maybe."

She smirks.

Chan sighs over the phone.

"If you don't do your homework, you wont get good grades. If you don't get good grades, you'll never get into a good college or university, if you don't get into a good university, then you won't be able to find a job. If you don't find a job, then we can get married and you won't be able to provide for our family."

It is a simple saying that Chan uses to get (Y/N) to study or do her homework. He's been using it since they were kids; even before Seungmin's dad married Chan's mom, and it always worked. Chan never understands why.

But it is simple, right?

Simple for him, but what about for her?

Was this just going to be a one-sided love forever?

(Y/N) sighs in content and pulls her Maths book out, starting to do the work already.

"I don't see why this thing still works on you."

Chan mumbles.

"I don't know...it was just so motivating."

(Y/N) fakes a laugh, knowing how confused he probably is.

"Whatever. Hey, about this dinner tonight. Were you informed?"

"Nope, not until this evening."

(Y/N) answers, writing another answer down.

"Why are they so secretive?"

Chan rolls his eyes even though (Y/N) can't see him.

"Just being parents, I guess."

(Y/N) mutters, placing the phone on speaker and placing it down on her bed.

"They're crazy."

Chan mumbles. Receiving no answer, he sighs. "Is your dad gonna be there?"

At the question, (Y/N) perks up.

(Y/N)'s dad hasn't been home for three days.

"Business trip, I don't know when he's gonna be back."

She repeats his words dryly. It goes quiet.

Chan sighs, honestly wishing he could hug her now. Chan knows how (Y/N)'s dad isn't exactly being the dad of the year at the moment. How he claims he's on business trips, but really, he's just away.

Doing what? Neither of them are sure. But they have their guesses. Whenever (Y/N) or her mum calls the company where her dad works, the same response would go through. He hasn't been at work for days. No, but out of the many times they've contacted him, only every few days, he answers. He is doing just fine.

(Y/N)'s mum isn't married to her father, but still loves him very much. Mrs. Bang disagrees with her attitude, but tries to support her as much as possible without coming off as rude.

"(Y/N)!"

The girl sighs loudly. "Yes?" She yells back.

"Go to the store for your dear Mum?"

(Y/N) mentally groans, but tries to stop herself as she's reminded of her thoughts just a few seconds ago. Her dad isn't there much, so her mum had to claim the official role of the breadwinner of the household with her dad not going to work anymore even though he claims to be.

"Okay!" Then she glances back at her phone. "Chan, I gotta go. Go to bed early, okay?" She asks, even though she knows he isn't going to listen. He never does.

"What do you mean? I'm coming over, remember?" He smirks a little.

"Oh, yeah--"

"(Y/N)!"

"Coming!"

"I gotta go, Chan. Just...I don't know. See you later."

"Later."

(Y/N) hangs up and walks out of her room, into the dining room where her mum is standing, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. "Who were you talking to? Chan?" She teased.

(Y/N) sighs. "Yes."

"Is he your boyfriend yet?"

"Not now, not ever." (Y/N) grumbles.

"Wh--"

"Mum, can you please just tell me what to get from the store?" (Y/N) snaps.

Her mum sighs, knowing her daughter. "Just some more milk and cheese."

"Yep, okay."

(A/N: update schedule? Saturdays and possibly Sundays.)
