Kara walks into Flora's Cafe with a sleeping Maia and makes her way into the back office. She quietly knocks on the door and Mr. Baltimore lets her inside."Hey Mr. B you wanted to see me?"
"Yes sweetheart. Come in sit." Mr. B smiles. "I was so worried when you suddenly resigned but now I can see why. Who is this little honeybee?"
"This is Maia. She's officially a week old today." Kara beams, setting the carrier onto the table.
"She's beautiful. Congratulations to you and Lena." Mr. Baltimore smiles.
"How did you-"
" Both Flora and I knew the second we saw your face when Lena walked in. I've never seen you so happy in my entire life, it's a smile that I will never forget. She also told me what you two did in this office... gross by the way but you're lucky I love you."
"Thank you for not saying anything."
"Hey it's none of my business. But I can see you're completely heartbroken. I'm so sorry for all that's happened to you and I know you're hurting sweetheart and this isn't exactly the best time to put this on you but maybe it'll give you the fresh start you need."
"What are you asking me Mr. B?"
"My wife and I love this place with everything in us, it was our baby. And after her passing, it feels like it's time to pass on this place to someone who will take care of it as much as we did. That's you my dear and I know you'll put your heart into this business. So what do you say Miss Kara Danvers, how about taking over at Flora's?"
"Oh my gosh?! I don't know what to say. Are you sure? I mean I'm still so young and I'm a mess right now and I don't want to disappoint you-"
"Kara you would never disappoint us. We loved you as if you were our daughter and I know your heart. You'll always do what you think is right and that's all we ask for."
"Okay, I'm in. Thank you Mr. B. I will do my best to right by you and Flora and this place."
"That's my girl, bring it in." He smiles, bringing her into a hug.
Kara walks into Flora's with a giggling Maia on her hip and waves good morning to all of her employees as she makes her way into her office. All her employees, her office, she still couldn't believe it. This was her first day as Flora's new business owner and back into college and she is honestly terrified on how she'll be able to juggle it all. As sudden as Maia's arrival was, she was lucky enough that it was during the summer time and that her schedule was almost completely free. But now she has almost a million things to do and no one to help her. She is on her own. But she's determined, she will get through this.
"Alright my Maia girl, today is Mama's big day and I really need you to be a good girl alright? Can you do that for me baby? Can you do that?"
"Ya ya."
"That's my girl."
She sets Maia on the play mat on the floor as she begins going through finances and coming up with new concepts. 1:00 hits and she quickly puts Maia down for her nap before heading out to her first class. She leaves Maia with an employee and gives her the rundown on what happens if she wakes up, which hopefully she won't. Kara walks down a few blocks and rushes onto campus and takes a seat in her journalism class. After journalism she runs to economics and then runs back to the cafe to take the last shift till closing.
"How is she?" Kara asks, stumbling into the cafe.
"Good, cried a bit when she woke up but a bottle and the bear did the trick."

FanfictionKara, First off I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for ending things with you the way I did, I'm sorry for not telling you, I'm sorry for suddenness of this all. I just didn't know what to do. And this of course does not justify my actions...
