"Hey, so I have been meaning to tell you something important."
Kate and Max were sitting in Kate's dorm room, having the long-awaited tea session. While Kate had started practicing violin, Max had been working on improving her portfolio with new pictures and with more vibrant colours.
"Yea, something important? What is it?"
Looking at Max, Kate was blowing the steam from the tea to cool it down. The room was tidy, apart from all the clothing lying all over the floor. Kate liked to have her furniture and all items placed, so they were easy to find. Max could never begin to understand why she threw her clothes all over the floor when she could never misplace any other item besides clothes though.
"Well you see, the day you..um. When I found you on the rooftop that day. I actually only managed to reach you in time, because of something weird."
Kate was suddenly sitting right up and had her gaze locked on Max with a frown. While Max was finding the right words, Kate placed her cup on her desk beside the bed they were sitting on without looking away from max.
"Max I thought we were done talking about it. It's over. We made it through that ."
Max, still averting her eyes, shook her head.
"This is not what you think. The reason I haven't told you about this is I don't know if you will believe me. I have a power, like, a real power. It allows me to rewind time."
The dim light from two lamps was the only thing lighting up the room because the sun had set. But even with that low brightness, Max could still see Kate sighing and understood that she didn't believe her.
"I remember how you came to my rescue. And how brave you fought my resistance. I do. And you know I still think you were sent from above, but a power like that. I dunno"
Max had turned to face Kate on the bed, Max spoke faster and started waving around her arms to clarify.
"I know how this sounds, but just please just listen. I have the ability to rewind time, but it is limited to around 30 seconds. And..and..."
"STOP!! I don't wanna hear anymore! This makes no sense. Why can't you just appreciate it didn't happen. I was so scared that day and when you keep bringing it up I only remember how scared I was."
"I saw you fall to your death!!! I saw you literally fall 50 feet until you were just about to hit the concrete!!! Do you understand."
Sidestepping every bit of clothes, Max now stood up. Kate looked dumbfounded and in shock. There was silence for a moment, then Max sat on the bed again took Kate's hand and leaned nearer her.
"I don't know how, but when I saw you fall I...I had to do something. So I made time to go back, in order to get to you before it was too late."
Kate still looked perplexed, but she denied her instincts to believe her. There was no way that is even remotely possible. She knew that it had to be Max, who also still had some kind of mental luggage from the event.
"Say I believe you. You wouldn't be able to prove it to me. I mean, how would you react if your friend said something so unrealistic as that to you? You would just "turn time back" and I would forget. right"
