Looking left and right to see where to go, Christin tilted her head in wonder. If they could get to the stairs and get to the first floor, they should be able to find the door to a Wish she had once asked for help before and one that was a bit different, she knew the person well, before he had become a Wish.
"Come, follow me"
Christin led the way to the corner of the house, the many ghostlike shadows floated about heading in no clear direction.
"These are called drifters, they can detect evil intent. If we were here with a hostile purpose, they would quickly leap onto us freezing our thoughts. A magic that can paralyze even the strongest magicians."
While talking they walked up the stairs. When they had reached the top of the staircase two directions could be seen. Left and right. The corridor had simple doors all the way down both ends. Furthermore, the corridor went on as long as Kate could see, making the small house from the outside look endless. Before she could voice her question concerning the weird corridor, Rick gave her a light push in the back as Christin already had moved down the corridor to the left. Kate quickly picked up the pace and followed along, until she caught up to Christin who was standing next to a door. Christin looked at Rick shortly before opening the door.
The room was bright and reminded Kate of an ancient old house, apart from the clean and spotless feeling. Nothing was dirty or rotting. Again she thought about the house from the outside and it was definitely not clean and polished as she was witnessing here. The white walls of the room stretched out so far to the sides that Kate was about to faint. All this nonsense magic, she thought. They went further into the huge room and a strong whispering voice greeted them.
"Hello seeking souls, here for a wish? Come sit down you must be tired.
The voice belonged to a human-like woman or man, it was impossible to tell. It looked to be two meters tall, even though it was hard to say because it was sitting in lotus pose. It had long porcelain white hair and wore a white robe different from the others. Its eyes were two black holes, nothing reached into those eyes it seemed. Complete black holes with only a black abyss to be seen. It was sitting on a pillow and before Kate were three pillows aligned to each of them. They all sat, Kate in the middle, Christin to her left and Rick to the right. They sat in lotus position as well and Kate deemed it necessary to do the same.
"Do tell me what you seek? And I assume you know the price."
Kate was apparently the only one hearing this, because the others just looked at it without any intent to move. So she spoke
"We are looking for the Max Healing spell and we do not have a long time left to do so in order to save my friend."
Rick was looking straight into the eyes of the Wish, a chill ran down Kate's spine the when the Wish suddenly turned its head and gazed at Kate.
"And you is prepared to complete the quest. Since you are short on time I shall grant you a quest that is not time-consuming, but the difficulty is not up to me. Your desires are fuels the quest."
Looking at the black orbs that were the eyes of the Wish, Kate inhaled deeply then nodded. They had used about half a day already. Max didn't have time for them to just hang around talking to fantasy creatures, so they urged the Wish to do the enchantment fast.
"Normally we would have to use a shortcut to arrive a the temple of the Wishes, but since you are in a hurry I will make an exception. That also means no creatures will be able to intervene and attack you while on the quest."
For the first time, the Wish closed its frightening eyes and held them closed while chanting something under her breath. Then a light shot out of its abyss black eyes and it locked her gaze on Kate's. Stronger so that Kate was unable to avert her gaze or close her eyes.
