Just getting out of bed and taking in the new day, Kate stretched out her whole body to get the circulation going all through her body. After putting clothes on, a pair of tight navy blue jeans and a gray sweatshirt, she sat on the bed and studied the room.
A lot of the things in the room didn't belong to her. Fin had made sure she had clothes to wear and frankly, she didn't know how he had found anything in her size. Christin had a bigger size and nobody here could fit it beside her. She had enough space to fit three beds and she would still be able to walk around them. But for how long had they been here. Even though it had only been a couple of days it seemed like forever. The desk was almost empty, only the lamp, paper, and the ring she had used as a shortcut to get back in time. Wondering what time it was, Kate spontaneously looked out the window, which was half covered by the curtains. She went and pushed the curtains to the sides to let more light in, thereafter she hurried into the Max room to check her status. Feeling butterflies flying about inside her, she pushed open the door carefully, then immediately caught the sight of a bed with no one in. The light was off, so she might have been fooled by the sheets appearing to be way too flat. When she entered the room she felt the amazing carpet, which could be found in almost every room in this house. But as she saw earlier nothing was in the bed. "Damn it". Kate walked out of the room and went down the stairs.
Here she could pick up voices and sure enough, as she turned her head over the edge of the staircase, she could see Fin, Christin, and Max. Her heart skipped a beat, and she ran down the last few steps quickly to confirm. Christin sent Kate a warm smile and, Max sensing someone behind her turned her head."Max"
Kate was frozen for a moment, then she threw herself at her. Max, who was happy to see Kate jump up to catch her. They merged together in a long awaited embrace. Kate mumbling into Max's ear with tears running.
"Haha, I missed you too. All this time, you fought for me Kate. I'm sorry you had to go through all that because of me.
Kate pulled back a bit and looked Max in the eyes.
"Don't ever leave me again"
Kate smiled an took her hand then she placed a sweet kiss on Max's lips. Max felt weakness overpower her legs, as rays of wonder ran down her spine. Before Max could reach the point where she no longer could stand Kate stepped back and looked toward Fin and Christin.
"Well, you sure are a cute couple. Makes all the effort we put in so much more worth it."
Max and Kate looked at each other, blushing, Christin let the fork hit her plate twice, she was hinting for them to eat.
"But you must be starving, Kate, you went to bed before dinner last night."
Just as the last word left her mouth, Kate's stomach growled. She was actually starving like a cat who hadn't had food for days. (I never forget one time I forgot to feed my cat two days.)
The two sat down by the little table near the fireplace with Fin and Christin. Apparently, it was used quite often, perhaps because of the cozy and fulfilling atmosphere it granted. Looking at the different cereals and bread with all sorts of paste to put on.Kate couldn't believe Max was here by her side again. They chatted about everything that had happened in the last few days. Max was smiling all the time as Kate told her about the weird forest they had to cross as fast as possible, and all the magic she had seen. And each time she stopped Fin and Christin would help her with the peculiar spells and the magic in the ring.
After Max had caught up on the quest and the curse lifting spell, Fin conveyed the Zodiac Signs to her with the various roles and categories each of them represented. Max was surprisingly calm and collected, despite all the new words and meanings. Just the concept of magic made Kate's brain go awry if she thought too hard about it.Lastly, Fin gave the choice yet again for them to keep the recollection of the events and their powers, or simply pus as he said it, "return without any magical issues, but also potentially never see magic again.". But as Christin said, they had some quite strong and unique affinities pertaining to their Zodiac Signs, so it would be a waste not to use them. Max and Kate were already on the same page concerning the world of magic. It excited them, as well as it frightened them, but they could not turn their back to it now that they knew. Max spoke for them.
"Seeing as magic, actual magic as in fairy tales and fantasy movie, exists. We couldn't just leave. We are fortunate to meet you, you helped me, magic helped me. I know that magic was the cause of this, but I also know that magic saved me AND Kate."
Max looked at Kate for a moment, seeking consent, before continuing. After Kate took her hand and tilted her head in a smile while nodding.
"As long as we are together, nothing will be able to stop us. We couldn't just forget about you guys either. You did so much for us, and we haven't even paid you back. I remember you talked about it when we just got here. But I need to ask why we couldn't just go back with our power and the knowledge we have.?"
Christin brought both hands to her ears and stroked her glossy red hair behind her ears and with and looked at Fin, urging him to answer the question.
"First and foremost, there are rules about magic. The council, MCW, The Magical Council of The World made these rules, and honestly, nobody can say they weren't needed. Anyway, try to picture everyone knowing about magic.
People would surely be happy, but magic is like a sport you could say. some people are good some struggle a bit more, and some can't even perform, due to disabilities and such. Now, if the world knew about the existence of magic, and that was the answer to every question and you could transport just by utilizing magic, what would you do if you have a low affinity.
Only a few percentages can actually do magic and among those, there are many who can't even cast a spell because they have such a low affinity.
If I were to go rob a bank using magic. The MCW will track me down and the make sure I regret it. Same goes for killing people, we must have rules or and boundaries, and for the humdrum, people without any to low affinity, we can't involve them in magic. They will become victims and the sore thumb in the world. Magicians will undermine them.
Kate understood all the dangers of revealing magic to the outside world. It would create destruction. And there will always be people who are no good, thinking only about themselves and they could use magic to harm innocent people and get away with it.
Max, on the other hand, could not picture this happening and even if it were to be the case, they could always just reinforce security and strengthen it. Why would people do such bad things? She was sure magic would be able to help the world instead of harming it. Voicing her opinion, Christin just glanced smilingly at and folded her hands."I thought the same, and I actually held quite a grudge against the laws, but I promise you. When you learn a little bit more, you also learn that magic can give you virtually everything. And THAT is dangerous no matter how you put it. Take my word for it, magic is more evil than good."
With that Fin waved his hands about and the places along with the cutlery and cereal floated in the air on the way to their designated places, kinda ruining what Christin had just said. She gave him a stern look.
"Great, with this we can begin some basic training. Fin has something to take care of so we will be here training before you get to attend The Morstein Academy. But first, you will need to go talk to your parents to sign you up for a new school ."
