"Lindsey how could you!" Stevie's eyes burned in to his intensely. Her speech was still a tad slurred, her head feeling like a cement block as she tried to keep it up straight."Stevie I didn't know what else to do. I was worried sick, what if something happened to you? Wouldn't you want them to be here?"
"I can't see them Lindsey."
Lindsey combed his fingers through his tangled hair, squeezing the back of his neck. "Stevie I will not leave your side." He was going to say more but was interrupted by the sudden opening of the door to her hospital room.
Stevie's heart dropped to the pit of her stomach, her cheeks burning as tears began to pour down her face. There stood Barbara and Jess Nicks. Barbara looked relieved, rushing to her daughter. Stevie broke down as soon as she felt her mother's arms wrap around her tightly; feeling like a small child again as she sobbed against her mother's chest.
Jess took a different approach. He starred at his daughter. She looked like hell. Her hair was unruly, hanging long past her shoulders in knots. She looked deathly thin, the dark circles under her eyes frightening. Like she'd been on a month long bender. His eyes darted to Lindsey, his fists clenching. He felt a hot flash of rage rush through his body. Standing face to face with the boy who took his daughter away. Away from her inhibitions, her schooling, from her parents.
"You sick bastard!" Jess stormed towards Lindsey, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and backing him in to the nearest wall. "What the hell did you do to her!"
"Daddy no!" Stevie struggles to get out of bed, Barbara holding her back. She held her daughter back, which wasn't a hard thing to do. Her movements were sluggish, fighting her mother off weakly.
"Sir I didn't do anything I swear!" Lindsey struggled against the older man's grip. His sneakers sliding against the tile floor as Jess nearly had his feet up off the air; standing on his tip toes.
"Daddy he saved me!" Tears were streaming down her face, a searing headache starting to make it's presence known.
"Who do you think you are? She was a good kid! She had life goals, aspirations! And now she's getting messed up every night with your sorry ass!""Jess that's enough." Barbara raised her voice with a warning tone, her daughter becoming distressed.
"You're just some punk with a guitar, you're just going to use her and move on to the next pretty little thing!"
"Sir no!" Lindsey shook his head furiously, trying to defuse the situation. "I have the utmost respect for Stevie!"
"JESS!" Barbara barked at him, the older man stiffening. He turned his head over his shoulder to look at his wife, flinching back. Lindsey flinched back to. The look in Barbara Nicks' eyes was identical to the one he'd get from Stevie when he'd done something to really piss her off.
Jess reluctantly let Lindsey go; Lindsey scrambling to his feet. He shifted to a safety zone away from Jess, straightening himself out.
"Who even are you?" Jess kept his distance, but glared murderously at Lindsey.
"Lindsey Buckingham." He almost stuck his hand out, his hand twitching then clenching in to a fist. He feared Jess would break every one of his fingers if he tried too.
"I want everybody out." Barbara spoke out calmly. The men turned to look at her in confusion, seeing her running her fingers through Stevie's hair, gently trying to comb through the tangles. Stevie was close to loosing consciousness once again, her eyes were fluttering open the slightest bit as she dangled off the line in to sleep.
Barbara was just as furious with Lindsey as Jess was, but her daughter was going through a major ordeal. It could be traumatic, depending on how Stevie processed the whole situation. She felt a shiver run down her spine, feeling a hot flash of anger burn through her as she thought of the man who almost...she couldn't even think of the word.
"Everything's ok TeeDee bird." Barbara ran her fingertips softly down the side of Stevie's face. "Your mama's here." A small whimper passed through Stevie's lips, clutching on to her mother tighter as she drifted off.
Barbara couldn't ask questions right now, and believe her she had many to ask. She comforted her daughter in the best way she knew how at the moment, keeping her nestled under her arm and against her chest. She thanked God that she knew where her daughter was now. Stevie disappeared with little to no word, having her and Jess sick with worry for the past month and a half. She thanked God that her daughter was alive.
