RATED M
The room was tense, Stevie terrified to even breathe. His brow was furrowed and he was biting on his lips, strumming at his guitar furiously. She listened to him play the same part he'd been playing for the past two hours, knowing he was coming to a dead end.
"Fuck!" Lindsey swore, running his hand over his face. He gripped the neck of the guitar in his hand, gritting his teeth.
Stevie held back a sigh, biting back a bitchy remark. "Why don't you take a break?"
"I can't." Lindsey shook his head, reaching for the notepad propped in front of him. "I need to finish this."
"You've been stuck on the same verse for three hours, you're obviously not getting anywhere. Take a breather and come back to it."
"I'm fine."
"Lindsey-
"Stevie would you just shut up!" He snapped, his baby blue eyes turning grey as they pierced in to her own. She was taken back by his outburst, looking at him as if she were a scolded child. He sighed, flinging his guitar to the side and swinging his legs off of the bed.
"I'm gonna go for a walk."
"Whatever." Stevie spat out. She'd turned away from him, flipping through her magazine, her fingers yanking the pages back. He almost retorted, gripping the door frame in his hands, gritting his teeth. Instead he just glared at her, making it a point to slam the door behind him.
The Arizona sun showed no mercy as he stepped out of the trailer and on to the black top of the hotel parking lot. The dry heat had him feeling nauseous, sweat already starting to drip from his forehead. He looked for shade, finding some underneath a tree as he sat down on the sidewalk, pulling a crushed pack of cigarettes out of his back pocket.
Shaking one loose, he stuck it between his teeth, lit it and took a long drag. She was slowly driving him crazy, and it was nothing she had done. He was just longing for the solitary he was so used to. But if she left for even five minutes he nearly went insane.
It was a very confusing cycle for him.
He was trying to figure out what was so special about her, what about her had him so crazy in the head, when she appeared. Her sandals smacking against the hot pavement, his eyes going up her body. She wore denim shorts, and a blonde peasant blouse, her long hair curling every which way down her back.
He didn't look up when Stevie sat down next to him on the curb, and when she plucked the cigarette from his hand and took a drag. They sat for a little bit, the cigarette burned to the butt and Lindsey pulled another one from his pack.
"I can't keep doing this." Her voice broke the silence, Lindsey looking up at the clouds above him. "I'm loosing my mind Lindsey. I don't know when I can speak , I'm terrified to even breathe around you."
"I don't know Stevie." He casted his head away from her, squinting his eyes. The heat was intense, seeing the air almost vibrate around him. He was starting to get a headache, grunting when he heard her speak. "Huh?" He swiveled his head towards her, squinting.
"I said I'm going home."
Lindsey snorted, rolling his eyes. "Bull shit."
"I'm serious Lindsey."
"You love it too much. I'm not holding you prisoner her Stevie. You can leave whenever you want."
Stevie huffed, crossing her arms and turning her head away. Lindsey couldn't help laughing at her little tantrum.
