Gilbert fucked up.
He didn't know what had overcome him in that moment, a blind rage of spewing emotion from everything he had ever felt over these past weeks. A dam of building pressure had collapsed and poor Jerry was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gilbert quickly and respectfully left the Cuthbert's home and practically sprinted home in sheer embarrassment. What if Jerry told Anne? Or the Cuthberts? They would never trust him again. He decided there was only one solution, he had to talk to Anne and Jerry. Separately.
He decided te best place to start was to arrange a time and place and he set off to draft some letters. He knew Jerry was the one who normally gathered the mail for the family, so if he placed Jerry's letter in top, surely he'd see it. Anne however was more difficult, would he mail it or perhaps give it to Diana? While contemplating where to send it, he started in Jerry's letter and soon that was complete.
Jerry,
We need to talk. I hope you are willing to see me and discuss further the events that transpired earlier this week. Please know I hold no discontentment or hostility towards you. I simply wish to talk. Meet me at Barry's Pond tomorrow at 3.
-G.BWith that done, he knew exactly where is letter would go and began drafting Anne's. It would need to be perfect, a lyrical and romantically worded paragraph with just enough mystery and anonymity to hook her.
After several crumpled papers littered his floor and revision after revision was made, finally he was pleased. Carefully and delicately he folded the paper and set off to deliver them.
