"I didn't know you were a barista." Cain said with a grin full of amusement.
I shrugged.
"We didn't exactly discuss our line of work, last night. Well you mentioned yours, but it never resurfaced for me to mention mine, so I let it go." I told him.
Cain blinked.
"You make it sound like this a shit job." He pointed out.
I managed a smirk.
"Its not something I can brag about, not when your-"
"Gay?" Cain cut me off and I glared at him.
He raised his hands in defense.
"Its not a bad thing, Angel. I mean, I've been where you are, its hard for us to be accepted in what society is today." He told me.I looked away from him.
"So you're gay as well?" I dared to ask.
"Yup, but don't start crushing on me. I'm not one of those cliché boys, that are immediately attracted to the other. Don't get me wrong, but liking someone takes time." He shrugged.
I smiled softly.
"Unless you're the type to fall in love fast." He looked to me weird and I felt my face flush.
"Not saying I fall in love fast, I'm just saying. Some people are like that.." I looked away from him.
"Its not their fault they get attached too quickly, and immediately think that person feels the same." I murmured.Cain took a seat at the rounded table, his chin propping on his hands as he looked at me.
"You're talking like you've experienced something similar." He said.
I looked to the register then took a seat in front of him.
"It wasn't my situation to be in, it was my friend Kimmy." I ran a hand through my hair.
"She's the type who moves fast, and as soon as this guy gave her the time of day. She bragged about it all day to me, and Jeremy." I got to my feet once Adam and the others walked in.His eyes fell on me and I could see nothing but disgust.
Cain's eyes never left mine, his full attention was directly on me.
And I appreciated that.
"The night of her first date with this guy, she looked like someone famous. But of course, she kept panicking that she wasn't going to be good enough." Biting my lip I frowned.
"Me and Jeremy waited at her house, ordered pizza and watched anime until she got home.
And when she did, I could see the spark of love in her eyes.""They had sex." Cain said with crossed arms.
I looked to him with a frown.
"Yeah.. and like any typical guy, the next day he pretended like she didn't even exist. He even shoved her out of the way."
"You beat his ass right?" Cain asked with knitted brows.
I looked away.
"I didn't, but Jeremy did.. Kimmy was such a mess that night, all she did was cried and nothing we did, could cheer her up.-""Angel, get over here and start ringing people up!" Adam yelled.
"Give me a minute!" I hissed.
"No, get over here before I have Mary fire your faggot ass." Adam yelled with pure rage. The room fell silent.
The customers eyes fell on me now.
I sat there, my blood ice cold."That kids gay?"
"Wow.."
"Awfully brave to work in an open area like this."
"I can't believe they even hired him."
"What if my kids were here?"
"How do you explain to them, that being gay is something only broken people are?"
"Disgusting."
"I'd fire him, boss or not. No one wants a queer ringing them up."I began scratching my wrist, Cain caught on and he stood up with a glare.
"What's your fucking problem?" He demanded towards Adam and the rest of the cafe.
"So what if the guys gay, who gives a shit? He's still a person!" He yelled.Adam walked up to him.
"Get out of my café." He demanded.
Cain locked eyes with him.
"Oh you must be the hypocritical Christian I've heard so much about." His words came out like pins and needles.
"Leave, before I call the police." Adam warned.
"Oh and tell them what? That you were some innocent piece of shit, broadcasting this guys sexuality, when it was none of your fucking business?" Cain demanded.
"As defensive as you're being towards him, I'm guessing your his boyfriend. Another faggot." Adam hissed bitterly.
