14 year old Mac West and her older brother Drake, have always had to survive on their own. Their dad's no help. Their father has forced them to move from town to town in order to avoid the police. They never stay in one town longer than a few months. When the kids and their father move to Forks, the dad starts to become more angry and violent. School's the only safe place. Because of injuries, Mac is forced to be taken to the hospital.
