Monday, August 26.

I wake up to my mom telling me to get ready for school. I groan and pull the blanket closer.

"Elijah, I will not put up with this, get up right now." Mom says.

"Fine." I mumble.

I get out of bed and go to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I change into a pair of black skinny jeans and a baby blue long sleeve shirt. I put on my Vans and go sit down on the couch in the living room.

"Jeremy, you too, get up!" Mom says.

I yawn and lie down on the couch. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pull it out and see a message from Carson.

Carson;

Carson;

I put my phone back in my pocket and wait for Jeremy to get ready so we can leave. Ten minutes later, maybe twenty, he finally comes out from his room and we all leave for the high school. When we get there, we walk into the office. I already feel people's eyes on us.

"Ms. Harrison, if you want to, you can leave. We already have everything settled. We just need schedules for the boys and they'll be on their way." The principal says.

"Okay, thanks again." Mom says, then leaves.

"Wow." Jay scoffs.

"Abandonment one o' one." I mumble.

Jay is the first one of us to talk to the counselor about classes. I have to wait.

"Hey." I hear someone at the door say.

I look toward the door and see Carson.

"Hi." I say with a soft smile.

"I gotta get going but I'll see you later. Maybe for lunch." He says.

"Okay, oh but I thought-"

"If you havent made any friends yet." He adds.

I pout but nod.

"You're so fucking cute." He says with a smile, "If I don't see you later, I'll text you."

"Okay." I grin.

"You've got some people making eyes at you, you know. I think you'll have lots of friends. Just be careful in who you talk to." He says, "I know I'm not the best but there's worse people here."
