"Avery, Avery, get up." I was shaken awake by Cody. It was the middle of the night.
"What is it?" I say as I rub my eyes.
"There's a thing on the news." He held his phone in front of me.
It looked blurry at first but my eyes focused on the words 'shoot on sight' I sat up and grabbed cody's phone.
'There has been more and more robberies in the past few days. If you are a store owner and two people, a man and a woman come in you can shoot them on sight. If brought to police station dead, a reward of $200 will be rewarded.'
"Th- that's us, it has to be." I say as I almost break down in tears.
"Baby," cody brings me into his arms. He knows im scared.
"I don't want to alarm you but it's not the store clerks we should be scared of." He says leaning back.
"What?"
"There's a lot of dangerous gangs around here. They will definitely try to kill us, even if they'd only earn a dollar."
"Shit, what should we do?"
"That's where this gets difficult. They know where we live and we need to leave."
"How the hell do they know?"
"I don't know, i only over heard one say where we live. I was in a bad part of town and they were talking about 'the robbers' and one said our address. We need to get out of here."
At that moment a window from down stairs shattered.
Me and cody looked at each other in fear. He handed me a gun and kept one for himself.
"Go get the others, I'll deal with him" he whispered.
We got up and I went into maxx's room. I shook him until he woke up. "What is it?" Before I was able to answer, gun shots went off down stairs.
We ran out in the hall way to see Dan and Zach already out of there rooms. "I'll explain later but we need to get out of here right now." Cody said out of breath as he ran up the stairs.
