“Matty?” I asked and peeked into the room.

“I can’t talk right now. I’m running late for work,” He rushed.

“It’s four in the afternoon. You just got home,” I replied blankly.

“Did I say work? I meant-“

“Dad called,” I shouted after him, causing him to pause and return to the room. “Oh?”

“Yeah. He said that he and Mum are officially divorced,” I replied.

“Oh. How… um how do you feel about that?” He asked in concern.

I shrugged. I wasn’t sure how I felt. They were my parents after all and I loved them, and while they love me, they don’t love what I am. “I’m fine.”

“Do you know who you’re going to live with?” Matty asked.

I shook my head. “Neither. Mum would prefer it if I didn’t live with her and Dad’ll never be home so there’s really no point. Besides, I’m Eighteen; I should be moving out of home, I mean I graduate in a month.”

“I suppose you have a point,” He replied.

I nodded. “I’ll try to move out as soon as possible.”

“Don’t you dare,” He snapped, insulted. “Feel free to stay as long as you like. I like your company.”

“Even if I hit on you half the time?”

“Even if you hit on me.”

“And even if I’m about to kiss you now?”

“Yes, even if you’re about to-“Just as he realized what I said, I dived in for my kiss. And obviously, it was nice.

So, so nice.

Pulling away, Matty flushed once more and stammered an excuse and stumbled out of the room.
