A few hours had passed since I first awoke from my fall ,and now I sitting calmly on the bed. A large growl from my stomach interupted the deadly silence. I chuckled softly, and pressed the red button next to my bed. A loud beep sounded the room, and a voice sounded from the machine. "Yes?" a voice asked.
"Can I have a nice chicken dinner?" I asked, pressing the microphone, "I am absolutly starving." I finished emphazing the word starving.
"Alright, alright." The women said. I beamed, even though no one could see me, and another pang of hunger shot through my body. I still hadn't gotten use to the idea of having somewhere to stay, without being shot at. A few minutes passed, and the women came walking with a platter of food. I licked my lips hungerly, and clapped my hands together, ready for the food.
"i'm guessing this is the first nice meal you've had in a while, isn't it." The women said, her voice tainted with a hint of sadness. I nodded slowly, as she set the platter down on the table. I picked up the fork and knife, and dug into the food. The women sat calmly on the chair next to my bed, studying my features.
"I realized I have no idea what to call you." The women said unexpectedly. My eyes flickered up at her, mistrust shining in my eyes.
'I'm not going to tell you, I don't know whether I can trust you or not." I said, my voice as hard as stone.
"Well then, I'll tell you my name." The women said, sadness fluttering in her voice, "My name is Avery Hanson, and I have been working here for about one year, and I used to be a mother." Avery said.
"I'm sorry about your child, what happened?" I asked her.
"She disappeared from her room one night, she was only 1 month. It's been 15 years years today." Avery said. I looked at her, and saw tears in her eyes. "Now, since I told you a bit about myself, its your turn." She told me. I sighed, and looked down at the empty plate, and I flicked my eyes back up at her, then back down. "You don't have a name." She said softly. I nodded my head, shame flooding my eyes and body.
"You don't really need a name when you aren't with anyone, and the only time people are around me, is when I'm shackled to an opperating table, being experimented on." I choked out, tears welling in my eyes. Avery leaned forward, and embraced me. My body tensed up, and I struggled to get free.
"i'm sorry." SHe whispered in my ear, then she pulled away and started "Well then, your with someone now, and your not strapped. What do you want to be called." She asked me. My eyes flicked up and I looked at her in the eyes.
"Um........well a few times I've walked around town, and I heard someone calling out the name Destiny, and I really like that name. So you can call me Destiny." I said, my voice stronger. I looked at Avery, and saw tears in her eyes. "Did I do something wrong?" I whimpered.
"No no, no you didn't. It's just Destiny was my daughters name. Now that I think about it, you look a lot like her. She had your almost gray eyes, and the pure blond hair." I lifted my hand, and tangled my blond hair around it.
"Do you have a mirror? I actually don't really know what I look like..." I trailed off, shame flooding my eyess.
"Of course I do." Avery said softly. She stood up, and walked over to a cupboard and pulled out a handheld mirror. She walked back towards the bed, and handed it to me. I took it from her hand, and put it infront of me. My stormy gray eyes flickered back and forth along the mirror, and I looked at myself for the first time in years. My hair was a pure blonde, and it looked like feathers floating on my head. Happiness flooded over my body, and a grin spread over my face. I looked back at Avery, the grin still plastered on my face. Suddenly a loud blaring noise sounded, and I tensed. Avery's eyes flew open and ran to the door, and picked up the phone, and dialed a number. I stood up, adn dizziness washed over me, and I steadied myself on the chair, and walked caustiously over to Avery, right as she put the phone back on the wall.
"We need to go. Now." She demanded, and swung open the door and pulled me out with her.
"Why!!" I demanded, halting to a stop, my feet skidding on the floor. Her eyes flashed over at me, and opened her mouth to speak, but was interupted by a loud explosion. I snapped open my wings, but then remembered they were damaged. Fear settled in, and I ran the oppisite way of Avery.
"Where the hell do you think your going?" She shouted.
"Safty." I growled, and ran out into the yard.
