Suddenly my plan exploded in my face. Literatly. The dirt flew into the air as a grenade landed in front of me. I turned around, and looked at Avery with pure fear in my eyes, and ran the way she was running. "Where are you going!!!!" I called out after her, as the ground shook beneath my feet.

"The bomb shelter." She said, as though it was obvious. I shook my head, adreline rushing through my veins.

"They'll find us there," Anyways...who is 'they' "We need to go somewhere they'll never expect us to go." I say to Avery. I look at my wings, and me and Avery share a look. Avery shook her head slightly.

"No you can't, I won't let you do this." Avery says, her voice breaking. My heart breaks as she says that, but I snap my wings out anyways, and take a running start, leaping into the air. I let out a scream of pain, as I flapped my injured wings, but I fly higher and higher into the sky. I close my eyes, swallowing my fear. I look at the ground, and Avery grows smaller and smaller as I get higher. I halt to a stop and become motionless except for my wings beating in the air. I take in the view of the battle ground, and see Avery escaping. I sigh with relief, and sweep my eyes over the ground. I let out a little smirk, and snap my wings shut. I start free falling, slowly moving into a dive position, and I snap out my wings. Once again, I let out a shriek of pain, but keep falling. I moved my wings steadily, slowing myself down a bit and let out one huge swoosh of my wings, and knocked over some of the gunmen. I beat my wings, wincing at every flap, towards Avery and close my wings, and drop to the ground.

"You could've seriously injurged yourself." Avery scolded as I came running up to her.

"I'm sorry, but I had to try. Didn't I?" I say, I saw Avery sigh, and closed the distance between us, and hugged me. I stiffened in her embrace, but forced myself to wrap my arms around her. I pulled away from her, and let out a quick smile.

"come on, we need to get out of here. Another base is in the next city, and we can take shelter there." Avery said, and started walking south. I sigh, and follow the scientist.

"Where is this base?" I ask her.

"In the next city over." She replies. I shoot a glaring look over at her.

"Can you be any less vauge." My voice cold as ice. Avery chuckles, but keeps walking.

"I don't want to say anything, incase they've got spies following us." I nodd, and halt to a stop when I hear her next words. "Anyways, who is they?" Her voice soft as a cloud. My breath caught in my throat, as I was flown into a flash back.

I felt scratchy sheets underneath me, and my wrists were handcuffed to the table. Not again.. I thought, letting out a whimper.

Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit. A voice said. I laughed dryly. The scapel met its target, and I screamed in pain. They kept cutting and cutting, never stoping their expierments. I mean, what is the point of a mutant, who can't even protect herself. After a while, I blacked out from the pain, and then I awoke in my dog cage again. I let out a whimper of relief, as I felt the cold metal beneath my body. I stiffened, as footsteps neared, but I couldn't even move back since I was numb with pain from the opperation. A face face came into view, a face I have seen so many times. "Hey sweetie," and my cage lock unlatched,

"Don't you dare call me sweetie Jared." I said, my voice voice dripping with ice. Even as a 10 year old, I was sassy as heck. Jared let out a sigh, as the cage door opened. He pulled me out wih gentle arms, and lifted me into his arms.

"How about you change your atitude since I'm here to get you out." He whispered in my ear. I'm gonna be free? A soft smile broke my face, as he carried me out the back door.

"Destiny?" A voice called, throwing me back to reality. I looked at Avery, and saw pity in her eyes.

"Sorry..but um....they are the people..who uh...created me, and experimented on me for 10 years." I said bitterly. Pity flashed over Avery's face, and she took a step foward. "Don't." I snapped, then closed my eyes, unable to bear the look on her face. I opened them up, and started walking again. "Let's just get to this base, but you have to promise me one thing." I say to Avery.

"What is it?" Avery asked, her voice soft with sadness.

"If any of your people comes near me with any tools, don't expect me to be nice." I growl, and I take a running start, and snap my wings out. I winced in pain as I flew into the air, and I flew at a fairly slow pace wanting to keep Avery in my sight.
