Part 7: Cupid & Confessions

(FLASHBACK)

Vanya giggles to herself, her eyes switching back and forth to Five and Nine awkwardly sitting five feet away from each other. She notices Ben besides her, also watching them. But a small frown was visible on his lips, which she finds odd.

With hushed voice, Vanya leans towards the boy. "Hey, Ben," Vanya whispers, "You think they'd ever get together? Or at least confess to each other?"

Ben grumbles a response she didn't quite hear, and with a huff, he stood up to his feet and walked away. Vanya frowns at his behavior, yet shrugs in return.

Nine stood up, earning the quick gaze of Five and Vanya. She turns to them and smiles, "Training." Was the only thing she said to the two before making her way to a wall, phasing through it. Vanya notices Five frowning, making her giggle.

"What's so funny?" Five grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest.

"It's obvious you like her, you know."

"Yeah, everybody knows that. Even the old man."

"Why don't you go and confess to her?"

Five gives the little girl a glare, "And get rejected? Are you insane? It's pretty obvious that she likes Diego, okay? Plus, it's not that easy as it sounds like."

"Wow," Vanya snickers, "I'd say otherwise."

Five clicks his tongue, raising an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"

Vanya groans at him, "Come on! She likes you, Five. Trust me."

"What makes you say that?" 

"Seriously?" Vanya rolls her eyes, "Nine and I practically tell each other everything. And she would always mention you."

This caught Five's full attention, "Really?" He eagerly asked before clearing his throat, "I-I mean... What does she say about me?"

"Well," Vanya taps a finger on her chin, humming. "How you look so cool and adorable in every mission you two have, or how you make her freeze in her spot every time you look at her--"

Heat creeps up on Five's cheeks, yet a small frown was placed on his lips. "She doesn't even look my way." He mumbles, and growls when a pillow harshly hit him on the face. Vanya glares at him, "Can you listen to me first?"

"Fine."

"You do know how Nine acts right? She doesn't react much when it comes to situations like that. But if you observe her well, you would notice little things from her."

"Really? Like what?"

Vanya hums, "Her eyes would soften, the tip of her nose and her ears would turn red, and her voice would also change into a softer tone. But that's only when she would be near you or if you two have a conversation together. Have you never noticed them at all before?"

Five ponders for a moment, and shakes his head. "Now that you've mentioned it... There are some instances."

"See? She likes you! You have a chance with her."

Five chuckles, "Heh. Well, what should I do now?" Vanya rolls her eyes, giving him a gentle slap on his shoulder. "Well, duh. Go and confess to her."

Five nods, pulling himself back to his feet. He gave Vanya a grin, "You're right. Maybe I should. Thanks, Vanya." He tells her, leaning down to give his sister a quick peck on her head before warping away to probably look for Nine.
