Once Upon a Time...
New Enchanted Forest, many years before the curse...
In the cold of the pitch black night, Anastasia rode her family's carriage through the blowing cold breeze and the heavy snow that caught them all unguarded.
After a long journey, they finally reached a place with what was left of supervisions from last summer.
"We're here, mom, you can wake up." The girl told her mother who was extremely sick, just as the youngest child, Drizella, the petit raven haired toddler who couldn't stop coughing and crying.
"I'm so sorry, Ana, that the burden to take care of us all rests on your shoulders." The blonde woman explained, while settling the young toddler.
"It's okay, mom, when it comes to my family, I'll do anything." Ana said, looking deep inside her mother's piercing blue eyes chilled by winter.
The eldest daughter was only fifteen and still went to great lengths to protect her family. In that night, they travelled just as much as sound or light would in the outer space, on a quest to find the little of food that survived the great crisis of their realm.
Carrots, potatoes, that wasn't much, still enough to take care of them for a few more days. As Ana picked the supervisions a tall red lipped witch with soft brown curls and a black cloak hiding her in the disguised night appeared out of thin air.
In a sudden movement, Ana dropped everything in front of the powerful woman who gazed her intensely and silently.
"Who are you?!" The young blonde girl asked, meeting the witch's brown eyes.
"I'm not here to hurt you, girl. In fact, I've been admiring you from miles away and see how much you remind me." The woman explained, with a deep cold voice.
"Admiring us? Did you even think about helping? My family is sick!"
"I know...Come here, I'll help you out." The witch showed empathy like no other creature in the realm ever did, especially during the dark period we were all facing.
"You're not from around here, are you?" I asked, trying to discover who that shady woman was.
"No, dear, I came from far...and our paths crossed, gladly. You know, I lived in the Old Enchanted Forest, the original part of this realm which isn't very far and in there I was subdue to take care of flour all day, in the mills, sweating and bleeding all day, come rain or sun. Those days were terrible but they sparked the power to be queen."
"You're a queen?" Ana asked, skeptical.
"Indeed, I'm the Queen of Hearts, my name is Cora." The woman presented herself with a smile.
"So, you understand my pain."
"As a matter of fact I do, which is why I'll help you. What do you say about coming with me to Wonderland? I could use some company, a daughter...."
