Hyperion Heights, Seattle...
Ivy: The door bursted threatening to be teared down, the little ten year old chocolate brown girl entered home with her hands buried in tiny pockets and a face wrinkled by let down.
"Luce, come here, right now! Lucy!" The girl's mother yelled, but Lucy didn't reply, she basically just closed herself inside the bedroom and slammed the door.
"Wow, what happened?" Sabine, the curly haired beautiful olive tone skin woman held her eyes high, they scanned Jacinda's, trying to find an explanation as to what caused Lucy's misbehavior. "What's gotten into her?" She asked again, getting back to her beignets, her nana's recipe.
"I dunno, she almost punched Henry in the face, today. Ever since she finished reading that book, everything turned upside down, for her."
"What? Once Upon a Time, the cheesy soap opera with fairytale characters in leather?" Sabine mocked with a bright sassy smile.
"Sabine!" Jacinda yelled, not very pleased.
"Sorry, I was just kidding. Luce and Henry were getting along so well, I don't understand why she'd overreact, isn't he still her favorite author?" The woman asked, sceptic to Lucy's behavior, as she poured some sugar on her desert.
"Yeah, I'm just astounded as you, but looks like After Henry didn't catch her eye just as much. She's acting strange, lately, she has this theory that I'm Cinderella and Henry is..." Jacinda stopped right there, because the sounding of it was too insane to even be pronounced.
"What, Prince Charming?" The olive skin woman asked with a bright smile, mocking the situation. Jacinda replied the attitude with a straight up face. "Wait, what? You can't be serious..."
"I wished I wasn't...She thinks we're all cursed and Henry is my prince, that the curse must be broken so we're reunited as a family. It's insane, I'm honestly beginning to worry."
"Yeah...I guess that Prince Charming being with the wicked step-sister compromises the situation a little bit." Sabine tad along.
"I'm serious!" Jacinda replied, not very happy, but still trying to get along Sabine's good mood and chilly vibe.
"It's gonna be okay, she's just a kid."
"Yeah, but Lucy's taking this all fairytale thing to a whole new level. She lashed out on Henry, this morning, it was really unsettling."
"Would you want him to be Prince Charming, though?"
"Sabine!" Jacinda's face lost it's color with the embarrassing question.
"I'm kidding, but...he kinda looks hot, plus you would be an awesome Latina Cinderella."
"Huh, the whole damsel in distress doesn't appeal me." The brunette replied, certain of her point.
"Well, I may not have read Once Upon a Time or the sequel cover to cover, but it seems the characters in those books aren't your typical princesses. I remember scanning through a scene where Cinderella punched Henry in the face to steal his motorcycle and get to the ball."
Jacinda laughed, just as if she was remembering living that moment, not long ago. The brown eyed woman shook her head, feeling the fairytale parallel existence taking it's grip on her, something that still looked like madness.
"Besides the point, Luce isn't distinguishing fantasy from reality and this is worrying me."
"Don't overreact, okay? The best you can do is play along or not give any value to it, look at it as a joke, which really is."
