I walked down the hallway of Shields passing many agents as I looked at the file in my hand. We have been hunting this vigilante for the last month and we are no closer to finding who this person is. The vigilante is quite powerful and my scientists believe that the abilities we have seen are not all of the vigilante's powers. If that is the case, then we need to make sure she, or at least I think it is a girl behind that mask, is on our side.
When I reach my office, I slide into my chair and set the file on my desk. As I read the latest report on the search, I absentmindedly turn on the news on the television that was mounted on my wall. Moments later, the news reporter catches my attention as she reports on a building fire.
"We are live a few blocks away from the subway station where a local apartment building is on fire." The reporter was saying, "Multiple firefighters are inside the building trying to rescue some of the residents out of the building but they are struggling with the building beginning to collapse." As the reporter continues to sprout the facts of the fire, I notice something flying toward the building. Instantly, I recognize the black wings of the Siren coming to join the rescue. She lands on the edge of a window and grabs the edges very tightly before braking the window and flying in. The reporter notices the exact same thing as I do and immediately begins to report on that.
Figuring this may be a good chance to catch the Siren, I grab my phone and make a call to the lead agent on the case.
"Coulson? You seeing what I'm seeing right now?" I say continuing to watch the news.
"Yeah, I already have a team heading there." Coulson informs me, "ETA is 3 minutes."
"Copy that." I say. The Siren appears out of the building carrying a few children delivering them to the paramedics before disappearing back into the building. She goes back and forth helping the firefighters rescue those stuck in the building. It was the last trip out of the building with her carrying a young man out when the building exploded. I saw this white shield spread over the whole crowd. That included the firefighters, paramedics, reporter, and all those who were in the building. The Siren wrapped her wings around the man in the air. What shocked me wasn't the immunity to fire but the Siren's ability to stay in the air even without the movement of her wings. How powerful is this woman?
Once the smoke clears, I see the Siren flying to the ground gently laying the man with the paramedics before flying up back to the air. I watch as water comes flying out of no where putting out the flames. Then to my surprise, she repairs the building making it look like a new building. She disappears around the corner and I lose sight of her.
"The team has got sight of her a few blocks down and will be trying to apprehend her." Coulson says into my ear. I smile. We still have a chance to get her. I type on my tablet and pull up the camera from one of my agent's vests. I watch as they aim the Icers at her. She was walking down the street with her wings gone. It looked like she was preparing to take off her mask when the agents appeared.
"We don't want to hurt you." The agent in the front was saying, "We just want to talk." I couldn't see her face but her body language told me she wasn't going quietly.
"I am not doing anything to hurt anyone." She speaks and it was the first time she has ever spoken. The Siren never spoke to the reporters who tried to interview her or to anyone she rescues. Those she rescues say she speak in their heads which is something I want to see is true. Her voice sounded so young which confused me. I knew she was sort of short but I didn't think she could be a child.
"We just want to talk. Come with us." The lead agent replied. The Siren stared for a minute before the area around her darkened. The agents shot their ICERS but when the area lightened back up, the Siren was gone with no trace she was ever there. I cursed when the agents confirmed that she was gone.
"Coulson, call the Avengers for a meeting. I think this is a mission for them." I order.
