chapter 9 - why her?

Even though Pumpkin knew that Damien loves her, she wondered why Roger thought it was very necessary for him to kidnap her. She knows that Damien would risk his life to find her and Lord knows that Damien will rip Roger from limb to limb when he figures out who kidnapped the love of his life. Pumpkin feared for Damien even though she knew that he could take care of himself. 

Damien himself was still flipping out over the fact that Pumpkin was taken from him, just like that. He was about to ask her to marry him and then, she was taken. He hated that and he needed Pumpkin. Pumpkin was his reason and his life. He loved her so damn much and he knew that if anything ever happened to her, he would flip back into his old persona. He didn't want to back to the cold, heartless monster that he was once before. When he met Pumpkin, they both saved each other from their pain and loneliness. 

He first thought that Pumpkin was a strange and weird person and then he got to know her. He started to enjoy hearing her soft snores throughout the day. He adored her half-awake talks as it meant that Pumpkin was still too tired and she was very honest in that state. Most of the times, he would ask stupid questions to Pumpkin just to see what her response was going to be. 

Damien knew that it was wrong to fall for such a sweet and innocent thing, but he couldn't help it. Pumpkin was a very sweet lady that knew what kind of life she wanted and she didn't mind if anyone else want to live in that same world that she wants to live in. That was why Damien enjoyed her company. The girl was crazy friendly and when she is tired, Damien can get her to talk about pretty much any and everything until he lulls her to sleep. Damien loved the way she looks when she's sleeping.

"Damn it," he muttered, knowing that he needed Pumpkin by his side to keep him calm. Without her, he would be a monster again. He didn't want Pumpkin to get hurt as Pumpkin was his love. Alana approached Damien with some news, but he knew that the news was going to piss him off due to her face. "What's wrong?" He asked her. Alana clinched her fists as she glared at the ground.

"Roger isn't finished," she tells him. At the news, Damien was both surprised and angered. He saw Alana shoot Roger and now he's not even dead?

"That bastard is still alive?" Damien couldn't believe it. He thought that Roger was finished when Alana shot him. That bastard is good. He had me going for a moment. He thought as he pulled out his pistol. He couldn't believe that he trusted the one person that hated him and now, Roger has Pumpkin in his clutches. He couldn't believe that Roger wanted to kill him. 

Damien felt guilty because he thought that he would have known that Roger wanted to kill him, but the man didn't make his hatred obvious to him. That was why it was easy for Roger to befriend him. Roger knew how to work his way around Damien and Damien hated that he had spilled some of his dirty secrets to him. Great! He could be telling Pumpkin about everything I had fucking trusted him with! Damien thought in frustration as he tangled his hand in his hair. 

He was foolish to trust Roger and he hated himself for trusting the man that was so hellbent on killing him.
