chapter 11 - her resolve

When Pumpkin woke up from her fainted spell, she noticed that she was still in the same area as before. This made her feel slightly better as it meant that Roger haven't found her. She smiled for making as she picked her ruler. Pumpkin placed her head on her face and she found that the cut had already healed. Nodding to herself, Pumpkin decided to head out to try to find a way out. As Pumpkin ran from hallway to hallway, she made sure to mentally mark down her resting area so she could return to it later when she's too tired to search again. When the time came for Pumpkin to go back to her resting place, she went back carefully as she didn't want to alert Roger. Even though, she knew that Roger could find her, she didn't wan to risk it by making noises that could easily alert Roger to her location.

Roger was bandaging up his cuts that Pumpkin had given him. He was frustrated, but he was more impressed by the fact that Pumpkin cut him with no guilty feelings to her conscious. What a woman. He thought as he smirked. "She's a great opponent. Too bad I have to kill her," he spoke, feeling sad all of the sudden. He didn't want to kill Pumpkin, but the woman did belong to Damien, even though he wants to own Pumpkin. "I want her," he spoke, growling a bit when he remembered that Damien will be coming to retrieve his lover soon. I won't let him take her. Roger thought as he still had to look for Pumpkin anyway.

Pumpkin was still trying to find a way out as she decided to rest so she wouldn't overexert herself. She knew that if Damien was around, he would make sure that she was safe, but watching Damien take care of her made Pumpkin sure that she could take care of herself. After a while of just sitting around, her stomach growled, making her groan. Being in that locked room made sure that I was fed, but I didn't want to stay in there anyway. Pumpkin thought as she knew that she could survive a little hunger.

Hours passed by and Pumpkin still stayed strong. I'm not hungry. I'm just thirsty. Pumpkin thought in order to pretend that she wasn't hungry. Roger smirked at Pumpkin as he had found her. Pumpkin heard rapid breathing and she feared too much for her life to turn around and she simply stood up and ran. Roger was shocked by how quickly Pumpkin had just ran away by him simply breathing and Roger shrugged his shoulders, knowing that all he had to do was follow her. Roger followed Pumpkin very slowly as he didn't want to scare her off again. All he wanted to do was just show her that she loved her, but she was so in love with his enemy that she didn't see anyone else in her heart. Roger couldn't believe that such an innocent woman could fall in love with a criminal like Damien. Then again, he realized that his personality was even worse than Damien's, but he still wanted her. He didn't know why he wanted Pumpkin as he didn't love her. He just wanted to steal Damien's girl away from him. Roger knew that having Damien's girl would mean that had he had beaten Damien in something for the very first time, but he also knew that he would be risking his life because Damien was very possessive and protective over Pumpkin. Just touching her would make him want to kill him. Roger thought as he knew how Damien thought when it came to Pumpkin's well-being. Damien doesn't think of the consequences when he thinks Pumpkin is in danger. Roger can use that aspect of Damien's personality to his advantage as technically, he still has Pumpkin in his clutches, she just ran away from him at the moment.

Roger could easily just call Damien, but he knew that curses would be sounded. He could beat Damien at his own game. He smirked a cruel smirk when he pulled out his phone to dial Damien's number. As he dialed Damien's number, he knew that Pumpkin would probably increase her escape attempts. When Damien answered his phone with an angry tone, Roger couldn't help the growing happiness he had at causing Damien misery. "Hello, my dear old friend," he greeted Damien with a small smirk forming on his face.

When Damien heard the man's voice, rage overtook him. He couldn't believe that he called the man who was betraying him his brother. "I called you my brother," he hissed at Roger, who became surprised at the news.

"Oh, really? Then, I guess that I stole my brother's girl," he spoke with a harsh tone, making Damien gaped as he pulled away his phone. Alana was watching Damien with a expression that said "I know he didn't just say that".

"Dad, I know that fucker didn't just..." She trailed off when Damien waved her away. Not wanting to increase her father's anger, she walked away from the room and went into another room.

"You should be proud of her, Damien. You taught the woman well. She has been hiding from me ever since I've let her loose," he tells Damien and he smirked inwardly. I knew Pumpkin could do it. He thought as he thought about how scared Pumpkin was when she woke up in some unknown area.

"That only means that I know how to treat my woman well," he tells Roger with a cold tone. Roger frowned at his words as he couldn't believe the man's confidence. I can't believe him! He was exhausted trying to bring down the man.

"I have your woman. Why are you acting like you've won?" Roger demands from Damien. Damien didn't respond until Pumpkin sent him a text message.

"Because I did win," he answered with cold voice. At first, Roger was confused, but then a shout was heard and blood was being spilled from his shoulder after a gun had popped.
