chapter 14 - a date (Part 2)

"Damien, what was it that she said that you were going to ask me?" Pumpkin asked as she was still both flustered and confused. Damien loved the clueless look that was on her face and Damien gave her a smile as he fidgeted with the small thing in the white box that was still in his hands. He was trying so hard to not show his nervousness, but he was so nervous that he had botched his own plan of confessing. 

"Marry me, Esmeralda," Damien face-palmed as his supposed question wasn't even a question. It sounded like a demand and he hated himself for doing it. Great! Now, Pumpkin will think that I'm a huge imbecile! He thought as he couldn't bring himself to look at Pumpkin.

"Honey, look at me," her soft demand couldn't be ignored at Damien raised his head to stare at Pumpkin and she gasped at the falling tears in his eyes. He thinks he fucked up his proposal. She sadly thought. "Honey, you didn't mess up. You were nervous and besides, the ring is a perfect fit, is it not?" Pumpkin asked her soon-to-be husband. Damien's tear-filled eyes got caught of Pumpkin wearing the diamond ring on her finger. 

"You mean, you would take me?" Damien asked, drying his eyes with a napkin that Pumpkin had given him.

"Of course, you big lug. Who else would I take?" Pumpkin asked him. Damien couldn't answer as he pulled Pumpkin into a very big hug. Normally, Pumpkin would have had someone take a picture, but since Damien had cried, she didn't want to embarrass him, she decided against the picture. 

After their date, Damien didn't want to go home as he knew that Alana would be talking to Carson, her new boyfriend. Damien had figured that they would get together soon, but he knew that Alana was just waiting for things to die down as she wanted him to be safe when they go out in public. "Come on, babe, Alana will be too preoccupied with Carson to even noticed we're home," he tells Pumpkin, who rolled her eyes at his very obvious happiness, but she couldn't blame. She did just make him the happiest man in the world. 

Through blood and tears, Pumpkin stayed strong with Damien. Damien knew that he needed Pumpkin by his side and Pumpkin knew that she needed Damien by her side. They both found the comfort that they had been seeking within each other when Damien offered her to live with him. Along the way, they had the easiest cohabitation ever. It was romantic even before Pumpkin realized that she had fell hard for the cold man that showed his true feelings towards her. 

Damien was glad that Pumpkin helped him with his emotions just by being there. Just seeing her sleep in her signature fluffy chair made him happy because he was happy that she was safe. 

When Pumpkin was finally put to sleep by Damien's traveling around everywhere in the city, Damien carried her home so she could sleep in her bed. He knew that she wasn't ready to sleep in the same bed as him, but he sure hopes that she will be ready soon. Besides, she needs a cuddling buddy, does she not?
