ALLIE

"What did you do? You got married? Are you crazy?"

Shouts gramps. He was so red and mad at me for defying what he wanted. My Mom was smiling behind his back and my Dad was not showing any emotion. I do not know what he was feeling or what he was thinking. Dan wants to go with me but I told him that I will have to talk to my family first before he does. I told him that he should talk to his family even without me. And he said that he will bring me to his parents and we will announce it together.

"Nasaan ngayon ang magaling mong asawa? Bakit wala siya dito?"

"Sir, sorry I am late."

What? Bakit siya nandito? I turned around and there he is, my very handsome husband. I saw Dad smiled. I looked at Lolo and he was surprised to see Dan too.

"Daniel Antonio? You're the husband of Nathalie?"

He approached me after he kissed my Mom on the cheek and shook my Dad's hand. He put his hand on the small of my back.

"Yes sir. Sorry for being late. I had to meet with a client first.

"I am not pleased with what you did. You could have come to me or her parents to rpoperly asked fro her hands. Not like this na para mo na lang siyang ninakaw sa amin."

"I married her in a civil right sir to make sure that no one can take her away from me especially forcefully. I am here to properly ask for her hand in marriage sir. Now that I know Allie is all mine."

"Being the grandfather of Allie, I want that there should be a pre nuptial agreement that everything that you own will be shared with her and your children. Everything."

"and that should be the case sir."

I tried to protest...

"But grandpa, pera niya yun bakit kailangan kong makihati? May pera naman ako ah?"

And they both ignored me.

"and I would like to include in the agreement that whatever she owns before the marriage will be hers alone sir."

"That I agree with."

I looked at my parents who were just sitting there listening to what everyone is saying. I must say that they are so amused with the show. My Dad is trying to control himself from laughing and my mom is biting her lips from bursting in laughter. I looked so helplessly at them while I watch these two domineering men take control of my life.

"So when are you going to get married properly her in the Philippines? I want a grand one for my first great grandchild. I want all the important people in business and politics to be there. You see I did not get to show off her mom on her wedding day so I want this one for Allie."

"Of course sir. And I can arrange the wedding to be scheduled as soon as possible sir."

"How about Saturday next week?"

"Hey, wait.... this is my wedding too remember? DOn't I get to choose the date and everything?"

"You lost your chance Allie Cat when you chose to elope with this young man here. I get to choose the date, where and when. Can that be fixed Daniel?"

"Yes Sir."

"Okay that being settled, let us announce your engagement. I don't want the press to know that you have already gotten married."

"Okay Sir."

"Engagement party tomorrow and you better produce a ring that you did not buy in those sleazy Vegas churches where Elvis was the one officiating the wedding."

"It was not Elvis Sir....it was a chipmunk who did it."

And that made my parents laugh boisterously earning a glare form my grandparents and a little smile from my jerk of a husband.
