Chapter 6:

"We haven't seen a ghost Eva, we have seen a sewer rat instead" Adriana says.

My frown falters at this. It is replaced with a huge plastered grin on my face.

Good one  Adri!!

Eva on the other hand looks like she's gonna explode any minute from now.

Her face has turned red with anger and her fists are tightly clenched.

She looks at Adriana with anger in her eyes. She looks dangerous now.

Adriana has a smirk on her face and is looking at Eva straight in the eyes.

She seems she doesn't care about the damage she has caused to Eva.

Eva shifts her gaze to me. I look at her with a smirk on my face.

She smiles and says" you are going to regret this. You don't know who you are dealing with girls but I assure you that no nerd will ever treat a popular like this after you have faced the real me"

Adriana bursts into hysteria. Eva is dumbfounded.

I remained quiet. Eva's words scared the hell out of me.

"Oh puhleeese! What can you do?" Adriana asks.

"Try me" Eva says looking at Adriana furiously.

"Okay guys just stop it already" I blurt. Its becoming uncomfortable.

" Eva, she's sorry. You can  please go" I add.

I look around. A few students have gathered watching the scene with interest.

I roll my eyes.

Eva looks at me. A smile on her face. She turns her gaze to Adriana then walks away with her crew.

I sigh relieved. I was afraid this was going to turn out into a fight.

Both of them would have been suspended for a month.

I look around again. The students watching the scene have began to disperse . They are no longer interested.

"Adriana let's go" I say.

"No Amber! I need to be alone" she says sternly. Her eyes look a  dull grey colour. She looks pale and frustrated.

"Come on" I insist.

"NO!!!" She shouts at me. I am scared now.

She sees my reaction and leaves running towards the washroom.

What's up with her?

It's break over. We have History as our next lesson. I can't find Adriana. I guess she is in the classroom.

My guess was right. She is sitting on a desk. Her head is bent. She looks sad.

I take a seat next to her but she doesn't notice. I wanted to call her but I was scared she was going to shout at me again.

I take my history book and begin to read.  Other students enter the classroom including Eva.

She looks pale and furious. She doesn't look at us. She sits down and applies a coat of lip gloss on her lips.

Miss Sherwin, our history teacher walks in.

"Good Afternoon students" she says.

We all reply. Adriana raises her head. She looks like she'd been crying.

"Today we are going to learn about the ancient gods and goddesses" Miss Sherwin says excitedly.

After she said those words, the lesson began. Its been just 10 minutes and some of the students are already sleeping.

Miss Sherwin sees this. She taps her table furiously then shouts"EVERYBODY UP!!!"

All the sleepy heads wake up from their slumber. They look at Miss Sherwin's serious face.

"Concentrate! So that you won't sleep!" She says angrily.
"This Wednesday , you will be having a history test" she adds.

Moans and groans rise in the class.

"Enough!" She shouts at us. The lesson continues and everyone is wide eyed looking at what she was teaching.

We had every right to groan! A history test wasn't fair but that was Miss Sherwin! She would never change her mind.

Adriana just sits there looking on the board. I don't think she is concentrating. It seems her mind is far away.

"Miss Hayford, are you here?" Miss Sherwin asks

Everyone's gaze is fixated on Adriana but I think she didn't hear Miss Sherwin calling her.

"Miss Hayford?" Miss Sherwin calls again and I tap Adriana on her shoulder.

She shudders at my touch and realises she is in class.

"Is something wrong Miss Hayford?" Miss Sherwin asks concerned.

"No " Adriana answers.
"Are you sure?" Miss Sherwin asks again.

"Yes Miss Sherwin"Adriana says.

"Okay" Miss Sherwin says and goes back to teaching.

"Riiiiiiiiing!!!"
