Chapter 16:

There is commotion in the room now.

"Silence!" Shouts Principal Miller
"The basketball players will meet Coach Finley after this assembly and the cheerleaders will meet Miss Sanchez" he adds.

"If you want to join any of these teams, you can but if you don't want to, then go home and wait for the day of the match" Principal Miller says.

"Am done." He adds and walks out. The crowd of students begin to scatter.

Some of them had gathered around coach Finley and Eva to join the basketball team and cheer leading team.

I wasn't interested in any of them so I am going home as Principal Miller said

I walk away but I hear my name being called by a voice of a male.

I turn around to come face to face with Ethan. His face is a so close to mine that I could feel his breath.

His blue eyes are looking into mine and is piercing my soul right now. It is so electrifying.

I gasp at the close proximity and he steps backwards a bit.

There is this smirk on his face.

"Umm, I came to ask you to join the cheer leading team. I think you will be good" he says.

"Ethan, I wish I could but Eva is the leader of that team and we are not really friends" I say apologetically.

Ethan sighs. "Forget about her. She's not gonna hurt you. Please think about it" he says.

"Okay" I say reluctantly.

"Get Adriana to join. We need more girls to cheer us up"he adds smirking.

I nod and smile shyly.

" Thank you! You have beautiful eyes girl. See you later" he says leaving.

I blush at his words. Did he say my eyes are beautiful?

I look around and find Adriana smirking at me.

She walks towards me and punches me playfully on the arm.

"What were both of you talking about?" she asks curiously.

"Let's go somewhere else and talk about this Adriana. Someone may hear us " I say worriedly.

Adriana nods and we go to the gymnasium.

Thankfully, no one was there. We sat on a bench .

"I can see that what he said to you must be very serious to bring me all the way here" Adriana says chuckling.

I laugh at her words.

"Spill the beans friend" Adriana says smiling.

I sigh and begin.
"Ethan wants us to join the cheerleaders team" I say.

Adriana's smile faltered at this. It is replaced with a frown .

"WHAT!!!" She blurts. "Who does he think he is?" She adds.

"Adriana calm down! Its just for the match" I say calmly.

"To cry out loud ,Eva is the leader of that team!" Adriana says angrily.

I sigh. I also thought of the same thing.

"We can at least manage her. Its only for four days and that is today, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday." I say hopefully.

"No Amber! I can't be with that traitor for even an hour" Adriana blurts.

"Traitor? Why do you guys know each other?" I ask curiously.

Adriana realise what she had just said.

She smiles at me sheepishly and says" I mean, Eva is a.........a......." She fumbles.

"A what?" I ask angrily. She has been hiding a secret from me all these years.

"You've been hiding a secret Adriana! I can't believe it. I thought you were my friend?" I say disappointedly.

Adriana gasps. "Amber, am sorry. Its just that I couldn't tell you. I'd feel embarrassed" she says.

"Stop the excuses Adriana! I tell you all my secrets whether good or bad so I was expecting you to do same but you didn't!" I say furiously.

"Okay Amber, am sorry" Adriana says.

"So tell me, did you know Eva before?" I ask angrily.

Adriana sighs and says" Yes. We met when we were six years old"

I look at her and ask again, "Were you friends?"

Adriana hesitates for a moment then as if gathering courage says "Yes Amber. We were best friends like you and me".

I gasp in shock.

Amber has finally found out why Adriana and Eva are worst enemies. Will she consider Adriana's revenge? Find out in the other chapters.
