CHAPTER 28 STAND BY ME

RECAP:- Randeep goes abruptly from police station and mrinal and raghav return home to find him, but are left dissapointed

MEANWHILE WITH RANDEEP:-

{ he rode in full speed, above him clouds rumbled, soon he was drenched in rain but his body was hot as fire, maybe with anger or a result of past days strain, reaching his destination, he got off and stood firmly, yet drained, furious but helpless, his face showed strong features but he was too broken to enter, tears lost in his wet face, disheveled he stood in front of ashis flat, where he last came only to take her with him for Ayeshas wedding. As the door swung open he made his way inside and a fresh set of tears rolled down, he was walking right into darkness until something stopped him. His leg hit against something, the darkness and clouds were also no help, he bent down to pick up this belonging of his love but he froze as he touched something hot, his hands wandered and not a second later he felt a hand, the clouds rumbled and lightning struck under its light a small figure was somewhat visible, it didnt take a second for him to figure out it was ashi – his ashi, he instantly and gently picked her up and rushed outside, the rain had stopped but clouds were indicating another downpour with lightning striking, but he felt his world falling apart with the clouds. In his arms was his long lost beloved but as someone he did not imagine in his worst nightmares, she was beaten up black and blue, some red stains on her clothes which told clearly she lost weight, her hair messed falling with cuts on chapped lips and a pale face, her state was a tell tale of her past 4 days and hell shes been through. He ran and hailed a taxi. Taxi driver looked like he just met with a ghost, a man with a half dead girl in his arms }

Randeep:- hospital jaldi!!

Driver:- sir doosri taxi karlo, ye police ke chakkar-

{ Randeep yanked him with his collar towards himself, his eyes bloodshot, under them the driver flinched}

Randeep:- tujhe lagta mujhe farak padta hai

{ he immediately started driving, and within 5 minutes he was in front of the hospital, Randeep ran with ashi in his arms and called for help, nurses came and ashi was being rushed into the emergency room with Randeep following beside until she was out of sight, but now he was not in a state to process, he stood there lifeless, the state he found her in was like a knot in his heart from which daggers and pins were slowly and simultaneously being pulled out, suddenly sanjays words echoed in his mind and just then a nurse came out instructing to fill out forms, as he was filling out he stopped at the section guardian signature – relatives only, he knew he maybe the world to her but he was nobody to her in the eyes of the world, he looked up from the paper and on the phone nearby, instantly picked it but didnt know next move, he was numb }

Receptionist:- aapko kisi ko call karna hai ?

{ he looked at her blankly for a second, then nodded, without thinking he dialed the first number that came to his mind }

Sanjay:- hello ? Randeep kahan hai tu ? Randeep?

Randeep:- hos- hospital mein

Sanjay:- hospital ? tu thik hai ? kaunsa hospital hum abhi aa rahe hai ?

Randeep:- global

Sanjay:- wahin reh hum abhi aa rahe hai

{ the line went dead and Randeep went back to icu, a huge glass allowing to see through, doctors pacing but not frantically, was it good or bad ? ashi was lying there like stone, her chest was rising and falling minimal, this wasnt the girl he knew 4 days ago, his ashi would normally bounce around, pout and huff, smile and laugh, stern sometimes, strict maybe or even upset at times but what she never was.still as she was now, he leaned his forehead against the cool glass, and then he realized his head was hot, he wasnt crying or yelling even not feeling he was at loss of emotions, she was his heart heartbeat and without herhe slowly sunk down on the floor. After 7 or 9 minutes, his whole clan emerged from the corridor. At the end of the corridor was Randeep looking straight ahead, all of them neared him and sanjay and zain instantly came on their knees shaking him}
