Johto - Chapter 3a

Gary POV ~

I placed my hand on his left knee to make him feel a lot more at ease. At least we have a long trip to go until we cross the border of Kanto into Johto. As we first headed north Ash thought we were going to Sinnoh but from the point we had lunch we headed back South.

"Are we going to Johto?" Ash asked me as he shifted in his chair, turning his body to me and looked straight at me. I stole a quick glance to look into his eyes, which I loved so much before I had to face the road again. I nodded. "Yes we are. We'll be there at dinner I guess." He turned back to sit straight in chair again and looked down at his lap. "Ow." I tried to read his face but failed epically. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just... No, nothing." That's when I saw a small parking lot at the side of the road. I slammed the brakes and parked the car there. "Yeah, there is. What is wrong?" He kept silent. With my left hand I cupped his cheek an made him look at me. I looked deep into his eyes.

Ash POV ~

Suddenly Gary slammed the breaks hard to park at the side of the road. I got scared for a second. What if he would hit me square in the face because of my behavior against him? Would he take me back to Pallettown and leave on his own? He wouldn't right? He loves me. At least he says e does. So I believe him, because I certainly do love him.

When I felt his hand get closer to my face I flinched a bit but his hand landed really soft on my cheek. With little effort he turned my head to look at him. I still looked down but I knew I had to look at him. The idea of him looking deep into my eyes made me scared right, but still gave me butterflies everything. And this time was no exception. Either way I looked up at him and he was indeed staring at my eyes. He looked hurt but at the same time... Caring?

I knew I hurt him by acting the way I did. I knew what could come at me as soon as I entered the Johto region. I was perfectly of all consequences when I agreed on going on a world trip with Gary. My lovely Gary...

"Ash?..." He got me out of my thoughts. "You were spacing out." He caressed my cheek with his thumb. "Ash, please answer my question." I didn't notice he asked me something when I was deep in my thoughts. The train of thoughts even I couldn't follow at some point. "What question?" He sighed. "What is so bad about Johto?"

Ow. "Uhm, I-I... My..." My eyes started to water. I didn't want to tell because it's kind of embarrassing to not want to go to Johto because of that. But at the same time I wanted to open up at my fullest to Gary. I wanted to share every secret. Confess everything.
