JUST WATCH, BAKA!

"Can you even do anything in the exam? How are you going to beat robots with a scream they can't even hear?"  Bakugo yelled at me, forgetting to sign when he was pissed.

"Just watch, Baka! I am more powerful than you've ever given me credit for." I grabbed my backpack, kissing Kiri's cheek as he signed good luck with a grin on his face. I ran out the door waving to Kiri as I left, chuckling at Bakugo's pissed off face. I needed to do good for him, even though I knew that I didn't owe him anything.

The brick building loomed up in front of me, the shadow casting directly over all the students walking through the propped open doors. I took a breath, keeping my eyes in front of me as I stepped through the wooden frames. A giant auditorium cascaded down from the top steps where I stood, a blond hero standing at the podium, as students, hundreds of them, filed into their seats. I got as close as possible to the front so I could focus on the speakers voice. As I found a seat three rows back, I saw Kirishima standing next to the tall blond with speakers connected to his neck. The hero's hair was beginning to grey around his face. I caught Kirishima's eyes and he began to sign as he spoke to the blond so I could understand.

My child is here today, and they are deaf. I need to translate so they don't have to use their quirk to hear you, Mic. Is it okay for me to stay up here with you and translate like I am doing now for them? He followed Kiri's gaze to see me watching them. Kiri gave me a thumbs up as Mic said something I didn't catch.

The written exam would start soon. The hero Mic began speaking, vibration shaking the floor. His speakers must amplify his voice. I could almost hear what he was saying through the vibrations but I focused on Kiri, who was doing his best to keep up in his signing. The hero was explaining how the entry exams would take place. It was pointed robots, just like Bakugo said. Hopefully my quirk was strong enough. I really hoped.

Mic told us to begin the written exam and Kiri gave me a thumbs up as he sat beside the greying blond. I gave him a smile and opened the booklet they had passed out. I blocked out all thoughts, including my own as I dived into the test silently. I ended up being the first to finish my test, heading down the steps to hand it to Mic. He smiled, saying something to me. I glanced to Kiri who translated. Go get dressed for the second half of the exam. Hang out in the locker room until everyone is done

I nodded, waving to the pair before jogging up the stairs. I ignored the stares my possible future classmates gave me. I was here for me. Not them.

The locker rooms were big and bright, gym close with everyone's names were hanging at each locker. I found mine in the back of the room. アキアラ in shiny black letters. They'd given us all U.A. gym uniforms to make us feel accepted already, I guessed. I got changed and took some Advil from my bag, hoping it would help the headaches I knew all too well.

It took nearly an hour for everyone to get in the room and change. I stayed in my corner, reading until someone came and stood in front of me. I looked up to see green hair and brown eyes. She waved at me, frowning when I didn't speak to her. I signed, fading my eyes to blue. I didn't need friends already.

"I'm deaf. I can't hear you. Is it time to go?" She nodded her cheeks turning pink.  "I'm Akaria by the way. Tell me your name when you can sign it." My eyes returned to red as I stood up, placing my book in my bag. The girl stayed with m,e walking to the exam ground at my place even though I had been insanely rude to her. We were in the same group. I wish her luck, but kept to myself, looking forward to proving Bakugo wrong. I was strong enough to be a hero.

They let us into the arena a floating scoreboard holding the time, probably for my sake. Everyone split up, beginning to take down robots once inside. I sprinted around the corner from them, finding myself in the middle of six robots who were just getting up to move. I focused on their center, where I knew the controls would be and released a mental scream that caused them to explode. I stared at the raining shards, grinning at the success of twelve points, I had to get more. I followed my gut, sticking to the shadows, finding more pockets of robots. I focused my energy into mental screams each time, ignoring the pain that had started to build behind my eyes. Seven more points. Ten. Two.

The migraines had started as I stumbled out to a main street, the green haired girl floating the robots in the air before dropping them. Her arms were starting to bruise, as if she'd been hit or had hit something. She was focused on what she was doing and didn't notice me. I glanced around and realized there were minutes left and no robots to destroy out on the streets.

Vibrations rumbled under my feet, a crack in the street sent me falling on my ass. I watched as the biggest robot yet began pulling out of the building to my left. Debris started raining down on us. I noted a big zero that was painted on the robots side. This was the one we were supposed to run away from. I moved to get up and run, but green hair stopped me. The girl from earlier was laying under a fallen piece of concrete, trying to make it float I assumed. Her face was paling as she yelled for help. The ground shook as the robot began heading our direction. Students flew past me as I stood, one staring at me in disbelief as I turned back to face the robot. None of them had seen the girl. I took a breath, focusing every ounce of energy I had left, my eyes the bluest they'd ever been as I signed for the girl to cover her ears. She ducked her head as I headed towards her, opening my mouth. I felt sound travel through my stiff vocal cords as I screamed at the robot, my throat going raw as the robot went rigid. Red lines cracked through the metal body, exploding into thousands of shards. I felt them raining as I dropped my body to cover the green haired girl.

"It's over"  I heard in my thoughts, the green haired girl tapping my arm. Everything about me felt heavy as I turned to smile at her before my eyes rolled back and I passed out beside the girl I'd just saved.
