Standing alone in the middle of the street, I closed my eyes. I reached out for Hizuru's purple eyes to gain access to her thoughts. I needed to find her for her help. Without being able to hear what was going on around me, I couldn't take on the villain team alone.
It was silent though. The mind of my purple haired teammate was nowhere to be found. I hadn't ever found a mind that I didn't have access to before and being locked out of hers was pissing me off. I widened my search of someone's mind, picking up a timid voice that caught my attention.
"I hope we found a good building. Too many people go for pretty. Falling down is a good hideout. They stay away from crumbling things" The image of his building danced across his mind, the old diner sign holding on by a single bolt. They'd gone off right instead of the center like the other teams groups. I changed my trajectory in their direction, keeping tabs on the timid one's thoughts.
"Idiot led her right to us. I told him to think of literally anything else" a deeper voice growled as I neared the building, the diner sign in my view now. I chuckled as I found my way to the front door, bursting through it with a kick. They really chose a falling apart building. It was going to be a challenge to get to the hostage without destroying the integrity of the building.
"Left, right, up, left" the timid one thought, moving his hands so rocks pulled up from the ground, coming at me in the directions he thought about beforehand. He really was an idiot. I used the armour on my left arm to break down the rocks. The deeper voice kept his thoughts scrambled as he reached out across the room, his fist skimming my cheek as I leaned back. I was still trying to block the chunks of the ground that the brown haired timid boy was throwing. I spotted the hostage between a couple boxes, frowning as I returned a chunk of rock to the brown haired kid. Was using my quirk worth it? I didn't have the help of Hizuru. Hell, I didn't even know where she was.
I grabbed the arm that stretched past me, pulling the blue haired boy toward me. He hadn't expected me to grab him. I needed to end this fight. We were nearly out of time, thanks to Hizuru leaving me alone, and how much time I had to spend finding the enemies. I was feet from the hostage. I followed my momentum and spun the boy around, crashing him into his partner. They jumped back up, ready to continue fighting. I mimed to the hostage, trying to treat this as a real situation, telling them to cover their ears. Memories of the night before with my biological parents flashed across my mind. All my training would make sure that never happened again. I took a breath as the brown haired kid pulled some rocks from the ground, grinning at me. Was he really trying to hurt me?
I let myself scream, a smaller force than normal, aiming for the villain team. They covered their ears, ducking as the ceiling of the building began to crumble. Releasing the scream from its hold, I darted to where the hostage was, holding the dummy underneath my body. Debris slowed down, falling in sawdust and particles now.
I won.
Pulling myself, and the hostage, from the dusty floor, purple hair caught my eye. Hizuru had finally showed up, a small smile was posted on her face as she stood over the villains, their hands now tied together. I hadn't seen her at all before that. Her mind was still blank to me, my migraine making the lights pulse as I released my quirk.
I let the dummy hostage lay on the floor as I stepped over to the villain team, undoing Hizuru's ties as the girls turned and headed back to the computer room. The boys rubbed their wrists as we headed in the same direction Hizuru had gone.
Thank you. You did good. The blue haired boy signed slowly after tapping my shoulder. The brown haired boy nodded as the other old him what he had signed.
"You're welcome" I signed back, using my quirk so they could hear me too. Earning smiles from the two, I gave my own, making a mental note to learn their names. Not hearing as often as everyone else made it hard to remember all nineteen names of my classmates. No wonder Bakugou made up nicknames. But my classmates were growing on me, aside from whatever problem Hizuru had with me.
The boys led me in the building before themselves, waving awkwardly as they joined their friends. I turned to where Komako stood, the green haired girl bouncing as I approached her.
You were amazing She signed, her mouth moving fast as she spoke to Makoto and Takata, her hands movings without signing words.
Thank you. I can't believe I was by myself though. Where did Hizuru go?
She just stood outside the building, watching you fight. No one knew what she was doing. Takata frowned, glancing in the purple haired girl's direction. I almost forgot he had been crushing on her.
You were just like a hero! You totally owned those villains! Makoto beamed, punching the air like he was fighting invisible villains.
You were very professional, telling the hostage to cover their ears, even though it wasn't a real person. Deku signed, joining our circle. I felt my face grow hot as he smiled at me.
I wanted to make this training as real as possible. I shrugged, thanking him.
You have so much potential, Akiara-sun He signed before walking away to start the next match. My friends and I turned to watch. It was Takata's turn as a hero with Udo Hikaru against the villain team Todoroki Setsuki and Aoyama Amaya. We all wished him luck as he headed out with his partner.
