Groups A and F were chosen to go first. Makoto was part of the heroes with a sandy-haired boy I couldn't name against the villain group. Homura from my floor was one, and a blue-haired girl that I didn't know. Deku and Uravity took the other sixteen of us to a control room while the villain group set up where we could watch visuals of what was happening. I stood with my group so we could watch Makoto together.
The match began and Makoto and the other boy took off through the alleys, trying to find the villain group. The blue haired girl gave away their location by reacting to Makoto passing their building. She shot water from her hands and Makoto responded by shooting what looked like goo at her. Her hair stood straight up as she fell, leaving Homura to defend herself. I hadn't known what Makoto's quirk was before, and I can only assume it was electric. Which made sense with the rubber costume. He wouldn't shock himself that way. The boy with the sand coloured hair pulled actual sand from the ground, encasing the flames that had began emerging from Homura's body. Makoto cradled the dummy that was the hostage, securing a win for their team. The match was over in seven minutes.
The class talked amongst themselves while we waited on groups A and F to return.
It's my turn next. Komako signed, visibly nervous.
You are going to do great! Heroes or villains?
"Villains. It's me and the Mineta girl. We are against Shinsou and Shindo as the heroes. I don't know their quirks." She shifted her feet to follow the purple haired girl that Aizawa didn't expel.
"Good luck. Be the best villain out there!" The green haired girl nodded, running after her teammate to talk strategy before their match began. I joined Takata and Makoto in front of the screens to watch.
Do you think they have a chance? Takata signed, a grim look on his face.
"Why wouldn't they?" I responded, watching the girls set up on the screen.
"The Shinsou girl. She has a control or manipulation quirk from what I overheard. She's really powerful" Makoto signed back, glancing between the screen and me.
You guys didn't warn her?
It was as she was leaving Takata frowned, turning back to the screens. The match was starting.
Komako and Mineta stood in the middle of the city, a run down building as their hide out, the hostage laying in the middle of the room. They seemed to be talking, glancing out the window. Shinsou and Shindo were running together through the streets, watching for movement. They were nearing the building where Komako stood, her face strained as she caught a glimpse of the hero team. Mineta released a purple substance from her hand, catching one of Shindo's feet as he ran through the opening between the buildings. He was stuck where he stood. He shouted out to Shinsou who circled the building, hunting for another entrance.
"How does her quirk work? Komako could get controlled and lose" I thought to Takata and Makoto, catching their slight shrugs.
"I think it's inevitable. The girls will just have to outsmart her somehow" Takata frowned, pointing back to the screen. Shindo had reached down to touch the ground and it had started shaking, breaking up under his foot that Mineta had trapped.
"Earthquakes. Now that's cool" Makoto grinned, making a fist as he watched intently. I glanced at the time, noting they had eight minutes left. Komako just needed to hold out eight more minutes.
Mineta had panicked, shooting her hands out the windows at Shindo as he moved, her face turning more and more red. She was straining herself. Shinsou joined Shindo back out front, shaking her head. She avoided the purple patches on the ground as she approached the door that Komako stood behind. Shinsou stopped short, calling out to the girls. I watched as Mineta stopped shooting at Shindo, allowing the boy to get closer to the building. The door opened, a dumb founded look on the girls' faces, Komako stepping out of Shinsou's way as the girl entered the building, Shindo falling behind her. They high fived as they approached the hostage. I saw Komako force her hands to face upwards, sweat beading down her face as she shifted her hands back down and two chairs collapsed on top of the hero team. Mineta started shaking her head, jumping back at the sound of the chairs falling. She shot her purple substance at the heroes, sticking them to the floor, inches from the hostage.
"They did it!" I yelled to Makoto and Takata, the timer running out on the side screen. Komako and Mineta glanced at the two kids stuck to the floor with confusion before moving to help them. Mineta touched the purple stuff, pulling it back into her hand like a vacuum. All four of them walked together on their way back to the screen room.
"How did Komako escape the mind control?" Takata mused, glancing between me and Makoto.
"It looked like she was struggling. Once her hands started moving, it looked like she had control again. They must not have known her quirk would still work under mind control" I responded, ignoring the headache that started behind my eyes. My team went next as heroes. I needed to be strong for that.
"Komako!" I called out as she entered the control room, bruises starting to appear on her jawline, she must have held those chairs for a long time for them to appear out of her jumpsuit. She took her place in our group, hugs surrounding her. I noted the Shinsou girl standing near us and away from her normal group of friends. What did Shinsou say to you guys to be able to control you? I signed to the green-haired girl, my headache pulsing slightly.
She just told Mineta to stop and told me to open the door for her. There wasn't anything we could do to stop it. She signed back, her head hung low. Even though they had won, she seemed to be defeated.
But you broke out of it. Takata signed, placing a hand on Komako's shoulder. You are strong.
Mineta went crazy with her quirk. What was that stuff? Makoto pressed, glancing at the girl who stood near the twins with wide eyes. She was kind of creepy, like Bakugou had said her father was.
"She called it 'Sticky Goo' Her dad's quirk is 'Pop-off' which is basically just 'Sticky Balls' apparently. They were purple balls as hair for him that he could pull off his head and throw. Her's comes from her hands, like you, Makoto, and sticks anyone or anything to her goo until she sucks it back up." Komako laughed, scratching her neck.
Dude! It's your turn Makoto nudged my shoulder, nodding to the purple and red spikes that belonged to my partner. I smiled at Takata's blush and I started walking towards the girl to try to talk strategy.
Wish me luck! I signed to the group, falling in line beside my partner. Hizuru Junko was her name I was pretty sure from the scoreboard. She looked at me with a smirk, saying absolutely nothing to me as we waited for our match to start. Her mind felt empty to me as I prodded, a disgusted look taking over her face.
I saw the time clock start and followed Hizuru though the buildings as she seemed to follow some lead. I saw her grin as she glanced behind herself and darted down an alley and promptly disappeared. I slowed my pace as I glanced around the streets. My duo mission was quickly turning into a solo mission.
