KACCHAN

Dinner went smoothly, everyone, including Bakugo, did their best to sign for me. Kiri was helping Komako and Deku when they forgot words. Uravity and Deku had made various sushi for us. It was honestly better than most sushi I'd had in the past. 

You girls thought much on your hero names? Deku mused, glancing between me and Komako.

Something to do with my telekinesis, but I haven't decided yet. Have you Akiara? Komako turned to me, raising her eyebrows. 

Honestly I haven't put any thought into it everyone glanced to me as I lowered my hands, You guys surely had no idea when you started UA. it was after the sports festival that we chose our codenames anyway. I still have time. I need to work on my quirk more right now. I went back to shoveling food in my mouth.

How long did it take you Kacchan Deku asked, looking at Bakugo. He had finger spelled the name. I recognised it, but couldn't put my finger on it. Bakugo shrugged, speaking out loud, keeping his hands down. He wasn't signing any more. Kiri quickly signed for him. 

Two years after he started 

Tell her where your name comes from Izuku Uravity signed with a grin, I noted Bakugo's usual scowl had returned. This must be a sensitive topic for him. Deku turned a ragged colour of pink muttering to himself before moving his hands.

Kacchan called me Deku growing up. And it meant something to me and gave me a chance to change the meaning of the word. 

Where did the name Kacchan come from? everyone shifted uncomfortably as Komako questioned her father, Bakugo glaring at the girl. 

It was my nickname for him when we were kids. The 'Ka' comes from Katsuki which is his first name. 'Chan' is used to signify endearment. So 'Kacchan' is just my way of calling Katsuki my friend. everyone seemed to hold their breath as Bakugou and Deku stared at each other. My mom also said I could never pronounce his name when we were three and four. The pair genuinely looked terrified to be sitting across the table from each other. I cleared my throat hoping to help clear the tension.

Me and Bakugo can do the dishes I offered, grabbing the closest plates to me. Bakugou silently grabbed his and Komako's brothers plates. I ushered him into the kitchen, turning on the blond haired firework.

"Bakugou talk to me, without blowing up. Why does Deku get you like this?"

"That damn nerd thinks he's better than me. He's always been more in tune with the hero stuff, and I was always ahead of him. How did he get ahead? Get out of my head"  he shoved passed me to place the dishes in the sink that he held in his hands.

"Did you hear him back there? He put you above himself 'Kacchan'" he snarled at me as I used Deku's nickname. "He thinks you are amazing, and is still looking up to you. I think everyone saw that but you. Think about that. Now, you dry, I'll wash." I dug out the dish soap filling their sink with water 

"Deku will always be a tough subject for me. But it's obvious you like the girl, so I'll play nice for now" my face burned as I splashed myself with the water, stammering at Bakugou's thoughts. 

"It's not like that she's just a friend" I splashed water at him, my ears burning to match my face.

"I didn't say it was like that." he winked at me, reaching over to splash me back, soaking my hair. I roll my sleeves up, cupping water to dump it on him. I caught the front of his hair, causing it to puff back up from the combed position Kiri got it in. I poised to line up another splash, missing Bakugou and hitting Kiri. Red dye stained his forehead as the water dripped out of his hair. He sat the dishes he was carrying down, looking between the two of us before grabbing a paper towel, drying his face and the pieces of hair that I'd gotten wet. He said nothing as he left the room.

"He's pissed" I look to Bakugou who shook his head like a dog, grabbing the single dish I'd cleaned so far. 

"Let's finish this and go home. I want to change back into sweats." he grumbled. I turned back to the sink, plunging my hands into the hot water. A pissed Kirishima was not fun to deal with.
