Pulling myself out of bed the next morning, I noticed red hair at the base of the covers. Kiri hadn't gone home after all. His body was slack and a small snore escaped his open mouth. I chuckled as I stepped over him, slipping into the bathroom to brush my teeth and start my morning. I ran my fingers over the bruises on my neck, a new side effect of the scream I kept using. I really needed to cut back on that piece of my quirk.
Finishing up in the bathroom, I cracked open the door, expecting Kiri in the floor still. I crashed into his ridged body standing in the doorway instead.
Why didn't you go home I signed, stepping around him as I grabbed my uniform.
Bakugou wanted me to stay with you. He's with Komako He responded, stepping into the bathroom. I stared at the closed door for a moment, quickly pulling a t-shirt over my sports bra and changing my sweats to my slacks. Kiri slowly stepped out as I pulled the white button-up up my arms.
What did you mean Bakugou is with Komako I signed with one hand, buttoning my shirt with the other. I didn't want Kiri to see the bruises on my neck. He'd ask too many questions.
He stood guard at her door all night. He didn't want to leave you two alone after last night. He shrugged, scratching his neck.
Well, I love you. But go home and rest. They won't touch me on school grounds. And I need to go to class. I pulled a pair of socks on, sliding my converse on my feet. He sighed as I grabbed my blazer.
Okay. We will talk more about this later. I love you too He hugged me, frowning as he left the room. I finished getting ready, slinging my bag on my shoulders. Opening my door, I came face to face with Komako. Her eyes weren't bright like normal, and dark circles were more prominate under her eyes.
Your dad snores and yells obscenities in his sleep. Next time they stay on guard duty, we are switching watchdogs she signed with a yawn.
I am so sorry, Ko. I didn't know they were going to stay. But let's get to school. I heard there was battle training today. I grinned, linking our arms and pulling her towards the stairs. The fight with Fuzen and Nari could have cost me so much. I just wanted to go to school like a normal hero and not have to deal with villains until I got my hero license. Fuzen and Nari could seriously cost me that.
Getting to school, Mr. Aizawa wasn't in class. Instead Uravity was there. I looked to Komako for an explanation, getting a similar confused look.
"Good Morning! This morning we will be having battle training!" she started, getting mixed results based on the thoughts of my classmates. "The hero costumes are in this suitcases based on your entry rank. These are the costumes you sent in on request. Get dressed and gather in front of the entry exam gates!"
I waited until most everyone had grabbed their case before grabbing case 19 ad heading to the locker room. I couldn't wait to see everyone's designs for their costumes. I didn't do much for mine. There wasn't much to work around a quirk like mine. I clicked the locks and watched as the case opened to reveal the black jumpsuit. A couple pockets in the lining of the case holding my additional pieces. I fished the breathable fabric out, smiling as I quickly changed my uniform for the tight fabric. It came up just under my jaw, hiding the bruises on my neck. I pulled my armour sleeves from their pockets, red on the right, green on the left. If anything, they would protect my arms. Fingerless gloves were added to protect my hands. I knew I would need the increased grip one day. I doned my utility belt, although I had nothing to put in it right now. I grabbed my boots last, admiring the subtle armour they had created for my weak spots. Lightweight steel toes and heels, perfect for battle and protection.
For the final touch, I dug through my backpack, grabbing a mask that belonged to Bakugou. I tucked the loose pieces of tape secure behind the mask. Tying the makeshift goggles over my eyes, I smiled at the material I had used to block my eyes. It was almost sunglasses in the locker room, definitely too dark for future use. Bakugou's mask was certainly too big for me, but it would do until I could get the support class to add a personalized mask.
I turned and ran to join my classmates at the gates of where we took our entry exam. My classmates all stood by the gates, broken into the little cliques that everyone had formed. I let my eyes fall on everyone, grinning as I found the green mop that belonged to Komako. She wore a tight fitted green and pink jumpsuit with thin white gloves and a pair of black boots. She'd used pieces of her parents' suits too.
"You look amazing!" I thought over to her, getting her attention. She squealed, waving me over to where Takata and Makoto stood with her. I'd paid attention to the boys names this time. Takata wore a pair of grey shoes with springs subtly peeking out from the soles to improve his jumping ability. The rest of his costume was a simple black tank top and loose fitting cargo pants. His feathers were contained in a headband mask combo making his face appear more bird-like with the bird eye shape circling his eyes.
Makoto had a jumpsuit that looked a lot like rubber. It was a deep blue, darker than our gym uniforms. He wore white knee high boots, also very rubbing looking. His yellow hair was combed down, strands incasing his face, his pink horns sticking straight out in a forked nature.
"You all look amazing, like heroes!" I extended to all of them, smiling as Komako blushed, Takata nodded in thanks, and Makoto beamed with confidence.
I like your mask Komako signed back, glancing at her hands. I took one of them, squeezing with a nod. She smiled back at me. The three of them turned to face the city gates, and I fell beside them, seeing Deku and Uravity in their hero costumes at the entrance. Deku began signing while Uravity spoke.
Welcome to battle training! We will be conducting a search and rescue for your first test. There will be ten groups of two chosen randomly for the training. Two teams will go at the same time. One will be the heroes, and the other will the villains. The villains will be guarding a hostage that the heroes will be expected to save in fifteen minutes. If the heroes save the hostage, or capture the villains, they win. The villains win by defeating the heroes, or keeping them from saving the hostage before time is up. This will be mostly indoor combat, so use your quirks wisely. My classmates murmured around me, their energy anxious and excited.
Here are the teams and order as drawn from hats:
