Chapter 18: Innocent Until Proven

Vondo took to the cobblestone road with adrenaline pumping through her veins and fear still gripping at her heart.

"Shit! Shit, shit, that was really her! That was really her and I-"

An explosion of blue-violet lit the area behind her and shook the building around her. She screamed and dove into the waters below as while others scattered frantically along bridged and stairway. She figured her best bet was to stay hidden until things calmed but soon she'd come to realize this was only the beginning.

Met Visogue stood firm and unmoving, her glare piercing as Eyawa arrived. She was accompanied by a pack of Vahemoria's warriors who all rode their mosvires to her with hesitation. All except the one carrying Eyawa and another massive Vahemorian whose heat was mixed masterfully with the ingredients of Niyamako.

"Interesting..."

"So that's her huh?" Ghawou questioned, his stern grimace unmoved.

"What did she do?!" asked the lotaness who carried Eyawa.

"Are you all sure you want to go through with this?" Eyawa asked, her body shaking.

"Soldiers, hold! Only Aclauja, and vi will approach her. Everyone else stand by."

"Starting to believe now, huh?"

"Vi will credit the fact that her imageon is unlike any vi have encountered. But it will take much more to change my views," Ghawou said and flew down.

Met Visogue's eyes shifted downward as Ghawou approached.

"Weren't too pleased with the service at Kormulla's huh?"

Met Visogue said nothing and shifted her eyes back to Eyawa.

"Alright, you seem ready to cut to chase. Okay, here's how this will work. Your friend over here broke through our borders an-"

"Visogue! I'm sorry, I should've just went with you instead of-"

Aclauja winded back and smacked Eyawa. Met Visogue's stance suddenly changed.

"Hey, bitch! You look at me! Not her!" Ghawou yelled.

Met Visogue looked back at him and her eyes began to glow.

"Vi was advised by my Fulcrum to tell you that no harm would come to her if you turn back and leave Vahemoria."

"Doesn't seem preferable to me just taking her back now."

"Does it seem preferable to having her skull all over the sidewalk! Because my warriors have weapons trained on her in case you get too jumpy."

"Are they truly weapons if they'll never hurt anyone? Because by my perspective there are only eyes of lotanians who don't know they're about to die trained on her,"

"Hey, you don't want to maybe tell her to save herself or something?" Aclauja nervously whispered to Eyawa.

Eyawa looked at her, completely understanding of Aclauja's sentiment even if it did deviate from the plan.

"If our objective is keeping you and them safe than we need to get the heat off of them." Teporia had suggested hours ago

"Yes, which is why we should leave!"

"It's why you should stay. You may not understand but if Met Visogue let you get this far it wasn't because deceived her. Now vi don't know what you and she were in the past but, whatever the case was, it may have given you access to the only opening Met Visogue has."
