I knew that today was going to be different when Zayn and I went to school but I didn't care that it was going to be different. I think Zayn is more on edge about everything than I am and it's a bit annoying hearing him constantly remind me that we were going to be in serious trouble if the wrong person had seen or heard what happened. He should just forget about it and move on from it just like every other time we did this.
I knew that I couldn't say that both Liam and Harry have just found out what we've been doing to our water boy. They've actually known about it the entire time and haven't spoken up about it until now. If anyone were to send word off about this I would easily assume that it would be one of those boys. Liam should have told somebody about what was going on by now but he was apparently staying true to Niall, who didn't want a word of it out, which was good for Zayn and I. Harry was being quiet, which I didn't think was quite right for a captain to do but, as my friend, I like to think he was actually keeping quiet for me.
That was all about to change and the way I planned to handle that would stay the same.
After I left the house without breakfast or a goodbye, I got into my car and drove off to school like it was just an ordinary morning. Sometimes I had to go around to Zayn's to pick him up but I hadn't heard from him since last night. I would probably just hear from him in person when I showed up to the school building.
Usually, Zayn would wait for me in the car park . He wasn't doing it just so we could hang around before class. He was also standing there to challenge anyone from taking that space that I wanted. Luckily, people had gotten used to Zayn being an arse to them so they just leave him be.
When I did arrive, there was no sign of Zayn and I let out a small annoyed sigh with him because I bet he had chickened out on coming to school. If I had to face our outcome on my own then so be it. I know what I did and I wasn't going to run and hide from the fact that I did this. I'm not a weak person. I'm not.
I learned that Zayn had been there because he would step on is morning smoke near my car. Once I got out from my car I had found, not one, but two of them. Zayn was worried about this and he never worried when it came to this. I guess I was going to have to talk some sense into him before he broke down and ruined everything.
Once I was done staring at the ground I fixed my schoolbag onto my back and walked into the school, ready to find Zayn and deal with whoever thought they could actually bring me down. I wasn't in the mood for that because I knew it was going to happen anyway. I've dealt with it at home and I didn't want to have that overlap into my life away from it.
I found Zayn, shouting his name out loudly to him so everybody could stare over at him and make him either feel uncomfortable or he would give everybody that look that made me know he didn't take shit from everybody. People stared but Zayn wasn't glaring back. I had some work to do on him to get him there.
"Morning, lad." I greeted him with my same confident ease. I kept my eyes on Zayn, waiting to have to roll my eyes at whatever foolish thing he was about to tell me.
"I'm guessing you were able to sleep through the night." He muttered to me.
"Um, yeah, I reckon so." I shrugged my shoulders and twisted my lips, playing Zayn off. "I almost thought you were going to skip out on today. You know we like to see the aftermath of our damage. We never miss it."
"That makes one of us then."
I was about to ask him what happened to that friend who made a promise that he would do anything for me, no matter what. I didn't because I wasn't about to turn soft. This wasn't the place for that. I had to remind him of that as well.
