Marcel's pov
We were at the dance. Still in my car. Deep breaths Marcel. Deep breaths. I was so afraid to go in there. I have never showed my face at a dance before. Why would I? I would only get made fun of. Especially now. It would only seem like I am trying too hard to be like them. I didn't have my glasses. My hair wasn't combed back like it usually is. I wasn't dressed like a nerd. I looked exceptionally normal. And they wouldn't like that very much.
"Ava, I can't do this. I. I. I can't. It's just not a good idea." I was on the virg of hyperventilating. I didn't want to have a nervous breakdown right in front of her. Oh, no.
"Marcel, I wouldn't let them do anything to you. I promise. " she waited for my response, nothing. "I havnt broke a promise yet. Come on. We are going in."
I got out of the car. I held my breath. It distracted me from what was coming.
I walked over to her door and held her hand to help her out. All I could think about after that is how I wanted to be her actual date. Not just the guy she used, because she was too afraid to ask another guy. I wanted her to be mine so badly.
We made our way to the doors, where the dance had not started yet. Plenty of people had already arrived though.
If you have ever seen one of those movies with the romantic scenes when the girl comes down the stairs and everyone is in awe and she gets the dream guy. That is almost what happened.
There were stairs of course. As Ava and I made our way down, the room quickly filled with gasps and whispers.
Someone loudly said, "HOWLY SHIT THATS MARCEL! WOW!" and the whispers dropped to silence.
No one said anything bad though. They just stared in awe. Ava and I proceeded to the drinks and tried to ignore everyone.
Thankfully the music started playing moments after our wretched entrance. And people started throwing themselves around the dance floor. They looked like idiots.
"Well, was that so bad?" Ava said in my ear.
YES! "No, but I am glad you were there with me. It would have been bad otherwise," I smiled at her.
Fast pace songs played endlessly until finally a slow song came on and I proceeded to the floor with Ava. She seemed excited.
It made me über happy.

Ava's pov
He was holding my hand, as he pulled me to the floor. He wanted to slow dance with me. It made me so unbelievably happy.
It was a little surprising that he knew how though.
He pulled me in, with his hands around my waste and I placed my hands around his neck. He paced our steps to the beat of best shot by birdy. It was a really lovely song.
We were practically pressed against each other. My head was rested on his shoulder and I wanted so badly to leave with him and not do friend things. I swear I was doomed. Marcel's clearly didn't like me. Like that, I mean. He had bigger things on his mind. Dating anyone, let alone me, probably wasn't something he wanted. He would be afraid to get bullied.
I really liked him. I could finally admit that. Because the first step to solving your problem, is to admit that you have one. Already I think that's rehab 101. Although I haven't been to rehab.
Now I had to work on not liking him. Easier said than done.
And then all of a sudden I feel a tap on my shoulder. We both stop dancing, as I turn around to see who it is. It's Emmett from the lunch table. He seemed like a Party type, but not the school parties.
