It felt damn good to be on Korbin’s arm.  He had just dropped me off at home from a dinner at a fancy restaurant.  I was smiling and floating around the house like I was on a cloud until my doorbell rang.  “Who is it?” I called out to the door, but no one replied.

I looked through the peep hole and found a male’s chest. I opened to the door to find Sebastian standing at my door step.  He looked surprised for some reason until it finally registered that I was wearing a very seductive red dress with black Louboutin heels.  “How may I help you?” I questioned wondering why he was at my doorstep and it was only the middle of the week.

“Am I interrupting something?” He asked coming out of his daze.

I shook my head and moved aside letting him come inside.  “What do you need to talk about?” I asked.

“Are you and that Korbin guy serious?” He questioned.

“I would think we are.  He’s keeping me happy so that should count for something.” I said crossing my arms over my chest.

He stared at my left hand. “Are you marrying this nigga, Chanelle?” He asked feeling offended by the size of the rock on my hand.

I nodded my head.  “Yep.” I lied.  “We’re in the process of planning the wedding.  I know we’re going to have a big, fancy wedding.”

He studied me for a moment.  “Something about you is different. . . “ His voice said fading.  “Money was never important to you.” He said with his voice almost above a whisper.

“It’s not important to me now.” I said shrugging my shoulders.

“Look at yourself.  You’re saying that, but your appearance and ego are saying two different things.” He said.

“Some people dress the way they feel.” I replied nonchalantly.

“What the hell does that supposed to mean? You never dressed like that with me.” He said smoothly.

“Because we didn’t have the funds for me to buy things like this!” I blurted out before actually thinking about it.

He paused as if he didn’t know what to say for a moment.  “Chanelle, you need to leave that man alone.  I can smell a different wind stirring within you, and I don’t like it at all. You’re being consumed by the money.” He said as if he didn’t know who I was anymore.

“I think you’re just saying that because it’s not me on your arm anymore, you know? You’re just jealous.  You miss me, don’t you? You miss this.” I said holding a pose so he could see what he was missing out on.

He shook his head.  “That’s not why I’m here.” He said.

“Why are you here then?” I asked with slight annoyance.

“Are you annoyed with me?” He asked.

“You’re my child’s father, Sebastian.  I have no choice but to deal with you regardless. Why are you here?” I asked.

“We need things to be smooth between us because the tension between us around each other makes me feel awkward.  I just want us to be cordial.” He said.

“I’m cordial.  You’re cordial.  Both of us are cordial.  Is that all you wanted?” I asked cocking my head to the side.

He stared at me.  “I don’t like what you’re becoming.” He said shaking his head.  “When people get money, they don’t know how to act.  I tell you what though.  This better not affect your relationship with our daughter or else I’m taking full custody.  Good day.” He began walking out the front door.

“Whatever, I’m not worried about you taking Bree from me because I love my daughter and I know it’ll never happen.  Bye!” I said loudly slamming the door behind him.

As I began walking away from the door, I remembered all of the things I said to Sebastian, and for a moment, I felt horrible because my mean ways towards him really bothered him.  I wanted to run after him and apologize, but he hadn’t apologized for anything after our encounter with the alter.  I was dangling on my own pride, and I refused to give him the satisfaction of having me wrapped around his finger again.  I was a loose cannon, and I refused to let a man like Sebastian take my sweet, tender ways for granite so I caused myself to become a tough cookie when he came around.
