ada gritted her teeth before oboiye and kendrick as she stared down at the coco grades wrappings. the room of the ship seemed to creak in the silence, oboiye's gaze focusing on his mother. she wore long green drapes along her arms, her wrist covered with bandages. oboiye wore joggers and a tight black shirt, ankles wrapped while kendrick sat shirtless in shorts, missing his yellow jacket. her sons stared at her patiently as she rose slowly, turning towards her bed.

"it is true." she murmured, anklets and bracelets clanking together. "amari is your uncle. but he is also not a man to be trusted. he is manipulative, he is a monster and he is dangerous. a demon and a disgrace to opavia."

"so why hide him?" oboiye asked cooly. ada turned to him.

"he did something so sinister it would curse anyone to call him family." she murmured. "the way your father, the leader of all of opavia obtained his powers was through a spiritual ritual from the psychics of opavia. amari interrupted your father's and forced the psychics to perform the remaining ceremony on him. your father was unconscious at the time and could do nothing as amari received the powers of the moon and proceeded to slaughter the remaining psychics to prevent anyone from doing what he had done and inheriting the powers of the moon or sun." she turned away again. "he attempted to kill your father but i arrived just in time to stop him. and since that day he has been searching for the everlasting fruit. a devil fruit who grants the holder infinite life. he wants to rule all of the seas and the islands."

"so what does he want with vitani?" kendrick whispered. ada sighed.

"your father hid the everlasting fruit somewhere. when vitani was born, your father believed she would be very promising and always pushed her a little harder than the rest of you. amari knows how sentimental she is to your father's heart and he wants to use that to get the information out of t'kai."

kendrick blinked, standing. "so where could she be?"

"i am not sure. i'm sure i could talk to kuma somehow an-" there was a loud crash outside of the door, gasps following. kendrick and oboiye stepped out anxiously, staring down at the paw shaped dent in the deck. kierra lay in the center, naomi and skylar kneeling beside her. Her white shirt was torn and stained with blood, her brown skirt ripped in half.

"she is alive." skylar, who's fingers rested on kierra's neck, looked up. "but she is extremely weak."

ada stepped out, staring down at kierra.

"opai navey stem piendo. (bring her to my room)." she turned, marching forward. "oboiye and kendrick go get my herbs and bowls. zeda go and fetch eos from the other ship, baltay please go fetch my bandages."

"yes ma'am." he turned and disembarked with the others who had also been instructed.

"you two." she turned to skylar and naomi. "pick her up and bring her to my quarters." she turned and threw up a hand of dismissal. "and wood opavian-tiana" the child stiffened, her curls falling just over her eyes. "and christian" he turned red nervously. "fix the ship."

"yes ma'am." they echoed.

"everyone else leave this ship for now. i need the energy cleared to focus. marco, chris and jace please keep watch and take care of them i am not sure how long this process will be."

"of course." marco nodded as skylar and naomi laid kierra onto the bed. oboiye rolled out a large mat of herbs, kendrick setting bowls and grinders down. baltay stepped inside with the bandages and alcohol, ada inhaling slowly. she cracked her knuckles.

"everyone leave me except for zeda. kendrick, keep eos outside. i will need her after i have healed her."

"yes mother." he nodded before guiding the others outside.
