naomi sat beside kierra as opavian flooded the deck. water opavian and wood opavian readied at the rails of the ship as kendrick stepped out onto a cloud. the crew consisted of about 50 opavian, baltay standing amongst chris and others as kendrick raised his hands.

"have a safe travel." ada waved beside pregnant mother's who held their swollen bellies gently.

"i'll see you soon!" kierra beamed, waving excitedly as oboiye dipped his head.

"okay, you all ready?" kendrick yelled. the water opavian raised their hands, the wood opavian's skin fading to black as their paints glimmered and power surged around them. naomi watched as the ship shifted, a hole opening in the cloud.

kendrick gritted his teeth as his own skin turned black, the ship sinking through the thick cloud.

"hold on!" oboiye ordered, naomi and skylar holding kierra as the ship suddenly began to plummet. kierra gritted her teeth as kendrick and the wood opavian soared down beside the ship. kendrick shot below the ship and placed his hand up, a gust of wind pushing against the ship to slow it. the wood opavian stood next to him, holding the wood together at the extreme winds.

"kendrick, are you alright?" oboiye yelled over the edge.

"yeah i'm fine!" he huffed back.

"how much longer?!" baltay joined beside oboiye, looking down.

"it looks like we're close." skylar hummed, looking back.

"she's right." marco stepped forward, the water opavian nodding. the waters below the ship began to ease, a large wall of water creating around what seemed like a hole in the sea. kendrick moved from below the ship as it sunk into the hole, landing in the waters.

kendrick leapt onto the deck with the wood opavian, their paints returning to normal as the water slowly eased back below the ship.

"nice work." he hummed, oboiye nodding.

"we have to be careful now that we're down here." kierra announced. "the seas are crawling with marines and other pirates."

"the pirates shouldn't be a problem." skylar replied. baltay pointed up to kendrick's flag, a skull with two clouds behind him and his signature yellow face paint below the eyes.

"yeah, pirates don't bother us while we have kendrick's flag blowing." jace mused.

there was a sudden piercing sound in the air, kierra gasping as a canon ball was hurled at them.

"oboiye!" naomi yelled as he reached out, his shadow slipping away. he pushed against the cannon ball as skylar raised her hand. naomi stood infront of kierra warily, looking back at a large ship approaching from the rear.

"thought you said pirates don't come when they see kendrick's flag." oboiye snapped, kendrick standing up.

"they don't." he muttered. the ship threw out a harpoon rope into the side of the ship, a large man stepping out.

"i don't even recognize that flag." skylar muttered.

"kendrick." a man yelled from the opposite ship. "long time no see."

"who is that?" kierra grumbled.

"i have no idea." kendrick hummed.

"come aboard my ship right quick." the man tempted with a smile. "i have some things to discuss."

kendrick stepped forward, oboiye catching his arm and skylar jumping before him. her gaze never wavered from the man on the opposite ship.

"kendrick, are you stupid?" kierra scolded as she rose, poking his forehead. "you can't just go over there."

"she's right." marco hummed. "this could be a trap."

"i'm sure i can handle some loser pirates." he huffed, glaring up at the man.

"you don't know that." skylar snapped, pushing against his chest. oboiye moves as she glared up at him. "stop doing shit and actually think first. you're gonna get yourself killed eventually, you're too cocky." she sighed, turning away.

kendrick hummed, oboiye glancing to kierra.

"since you're so worried then come with me." he hummed. "you'll see you're worried over nothin'." skylar crossed her arms and stepped back. "marco, baltay. come on."

"you don't want me to come?" oboiye hummed as kendrick shooed him away.

"nah, stay here with kierra and make sure she doesn't cry too much. and make sure you burp her after she eats, she gets a lil' gassy if you don't." he mused, kierra flicking him off. baltay guided him on the rope to the other ship, skylar trailing behind.

baltay stepped onto the deck cautiously, skylar moving around so they stood slightly in front of kendrick. the man seemed to smile, staring down from a large seat. he leaned forward, resting his palm in his head.

"so you're the sky god huh?" he hummed. "thought t'kai's kid would have been a little bigger. maybe even a little scarier. but you're really just a kid."

"what do you expect from an 18 year old?" he mused dryly.

"what do you want with him?" skylar questioned harshly.

"i want to fight of course." he rose, cracking his neck. "for what you did to my sister."

"sister?" baltay hummed.

"don't play dumb!" he roared. "i'm laurence from the south blue! my sister fell in love with you when you visited our town and you left her! she's fallen sick of a heartbreak that she may never recover from and it's all your fault!" he flew forward, throwing skylar aside before punching kendrick back into the deck.

the crew roared in excitement as baltay turned.

"kendrick!" he yelled, kendrick grunting. he cracked his neck, moving from the hole in the wood.

"skylar?" he looked over at her as she sat up, gritting her teeth. baltay knelt beside her.

"te'challa?" he whispered as she nodded, glaring up at laurence.

"look i don't know who your sister is." kendrick glared at him. "but don't go hittin' on her like that. or i'll murder you."

"i'll kill you for the pain you brought onto my sister." laurence swore softly as kendrick gritted his teeth.

"look i don't know who the hell your sister is." he dodged his punch, kneeing him. "so quit it."

laurence leapt back, gritting his teeth. his gaze fell over skylar and baltay before returning to kendrick. he ran forward and leapt up, slamming his fist down for kendrick to dodge.

kendrick stumbled to the side and inhaled, laurence's eyes widening as kendrick exhaled a large gust of wind. he dug his knife into the ground to avoid flying away, kendrick smirking. he appeared over him with a knife, twisting in the air.

kendrick's feet landed around his torso, slamming his knife into laurence's hands.

he yelled at the pain as kendrick stood, stepping towards skylar.

"captain!" his crew yelled, kendrick looking back. laurence gritted his teeth, glaring up at kendrick as he began to walk away.

"you really are a monster." he muttered, kendrick turning to look down on him.

"i don't know who your sister is." he repeated as laurence bucked.

"Abigail!" he roared. "her name's abigail! she's short with long brown hair and blue eyes! she's got a birth mark on her neck and she's covered in freckles! she's my sister!" he roared, tears falling down his cheeks. "you broke her heart! you're all she ever talks about, kendrick this and kendrick that! you left her!"

skylar stiffened as kendrick closed his eyes. he knelt down, pulling the knives from his hand.

"bring him to the ship." he turned to baltay as a cloud shot down infront of laurence.
