kierra sat beside law inside the submarine, her legs gently crossed. he gave her a glance as she stared forward drowsily.
"you should get some rest." he hummed. "you've gone through a lot recently.
"we'll be at the next island soon." she leaned against the wall. "i can rest when i'm with my family again."
"how do you know your family is even going to come?" he hummed as she smiled.
"how long was i asleep?"
"2 weeks?"
"by now they've regrouped with my mother and the others. so they'll be on their way in no time if they haven't already left."
"others?" law hummed as she curled her lips into her mouth, crossing her arms.
"nothing!" she announced as he glanced back at her.
"what are you talking about?-"
"nothing!"
"stop saying nothing." he scowled as she sat up.
"kendrick has many ships up in the sky, housing hundreds of opavian." she explained. "we hide up there to avoid getting captured by navy, but we're running out of space. mothers are having kids, rekran are growing, we're running out of food and supplies." she hummed, looking up.
"how do you know they'll come looking for you?"
"i'm the princess of opavia." she scoffed, sticking out her tongue. "stupid."
"you should learn how to talk to someone who saved your life." he scowled as she rolled her eyes, propping her feet up carelessly.
"who said i even wanted to live? you can't decide that for me." she muttered as he rolled his eyes.
"i wasn't going to just let you die."
"well now i've got a huge ugly scar on my stomach!" she snapped. "and it hurts like hell! i'd be better off dead."
"don't say that." he scowled, bepo's head appearing around the corner.
"we're surfacing at the shore now." he reported, kierra standing. "we have company waiting."
kierra poked her head out, grinning excitedly upon spotting t'kai and ada at the shore.
"ma! masetno!" she waved excitedly, ada smiling faintly. the submarine stopped at the bank, kierra leaping down. ada enveloped her in a hug as t'kai walked forward towards law.
"my popio." she kissed kierra's forehead, holding her cheeks. "te challa?"
"i'm okay." kierra smiled, lifting her shirt. "law took care of me."
"law?" ada turned to look at him as he hummed, looking up.
"you helped her?" t'kai grumbled, law nodding gingerly.
"i wrapped up her wound." he responded solemnly.
ada walked forward and swept his hand, clutching it gently as she smiled.
"thank you for helping our kierra." she smiled. "we know she can be a handful so we brought you something..-"
"no it's okay." law gave a nervous laugh as ada set a bag of gold in the palm of his hands. she smiled and turned, stepping aside for kierra.
"how can i be a handful?" she muttered, crossing her arms.
"you walk around like you have no home training." ada muttered as kierra scowled.
"you're not even wearing pants." t'kai remarked bluntly as she pulled her shirt down.
"that's not by choice!" she cried. ada pushed her towards law, kierra staring up at him. she stepped back to allow them space, glancing back at her mother.
