Chapter 43

"So do we have everything?" Hiccup asked as he looked at the group that was assembled. Everything had been planned in the Council meeting and they had quickly assembled at the Bifrost once Loki's plan took effect. Ymir seemed to have desperately wanted the bow and had contacted Loki far earlier than expected when he started the show by storming out of the War Council meeting. Everyone thought it would have taken a couple of days for Ymir to act.

"We're just waiting on the star of the show," Astrid stated as she sat on top of Stormfly. Hiccup was on Toothless while Snotlout rode on Hookfang and Heather rode with Fishlegs.

"You sure this is a good idea sis?" Dagur asked as this time he was staying behind with Eret and Meixiu to help the injured. Windshear was happily perched on his head and chirped at Heather in encouragement.

"We'll have to blow up a wall to get into the palace and I still had some explosives left." Heather told her brother as she gestured to the bag she had brought with her from Earth. "Do you really think I would purposely leave the twins alone with explosives?"

"HEY!" Ruffnut and Tuffnut shouted in unison from their seat on their dragon.

"Also count Barf and Belch among those numbers," Toothless chuckled. "There is no dragon that wants to see that pair get close to anything flammable,"

"Hey now!" Barf and Belch now reacted as the others laughed.

"Oh here is the star of our show now," Stormfly chirped as the bird-like dragon turned slightly to get a good look at Loki. She sniffed at the Trickster and remarked "Real blood?"

The group looked at Loki's clothes to see that he had added actual blood spatter on it.

"Sometimes you just have to go the extra mile to make something convincing," Loki stated and then added almost as an afterthought "Though blood is really hard to get out of this type of clothing."

"You should try dragon slobber," Hiccup whispered so no one could hear him. Well, at least he thought no one heard him until Toothless's tail hit him in the face.

"Gah!" Hiccup exclaimed as he glared at the chuckling dragon. "Really bud?!"

"Okay, let's go over the plan quickly," Sigyn, who sat atop a Pegasus, said. "The Bifrost portal to Niflheim has been closed by magic. Ymir should lift it when Loki enters the coordinates. We will be right behind him under an invisibility spell. When the gateway is opened momentarily Heimdall will acquire the magical signature so that he can open it again to let the Asgardian army through."

"Normally the Bifrost can only be opened from one point in space to another but we will be attempting to connect several worlds to Niflheim to let the armies through." Heimdall stated as he stood ready at the console. "The process will literally tear a rip in space and time and can only be maintained up to ten minutes."

"Is that enough time to get everyone through?" Hiccup asked with a frown and looked back to where the Asgardian army had gathered. There were at least several thousand and he wondered if ten minutes would be enough."

"Any more time attempting this and we might end up breaking the Bifrost permanently." Heimdall stated. "It wasn't designed to connect to multiple departure points in an instance. I'm already disabeling several warning systems and safeguards to do this."

"Did he say safeguards?" Snotlout whispered to Fishlegs who also looked nervous.

"Okay stand close." Loki told the Riders before Fishlegs had a chance to voice a question. "I'll be applying the invisibility spell."
