step after step on the cold slate sidewalk, seokjin walked under the cloudy roof of the sky. he was certain it was going to rain by feeling the moisturized air surrounding his skin. jin fastened his walking pace, his brunette hair slightly bouncing each step he took.
the buildings began to turn into single houses the further he walked away from the city.
the clouds still stayed a dull blue, the same feeling that it was going rain 10 minutes before. maybe in some other parallel universe, it did rain or rained every time it wasn't cloudy. the more he thought about it the less awareness was he of what was happening around him, however, he walked from school to home so often he knew the way without thinking about it.
pausing in his tracks, jin pulled over his red (and rather plain) backpack, opened it up and taking his not-so-expensive earphones out. nonchalantly, he put in the earphones and started playing his favourite band. twenty one pilots. they may not be kpop or sing in korean (apart from one lyric of one song) but that doesn't say that seokjin cant listen to them. plus, it helps him with learning english in some helpful way.
the first track played, instantly his mood grew higher. it wasn't a personal thing or that he's the only person in the world that is affected by music, but it genuinely relieves stress for him. seokjin didn't care about the science behind it, just that he was completely serene and blissful when he heard the melodies and rhythms of music.
a hand tapped his shoulder, hard, causing him to jump excessively and almost drop his phone. that would have been catastrophic.
when seokjin turned around, he was faced to meet jungkooks. relief washed over him, comforted that it wasn't someone trying to mug him. again, that would be catastrophic and to some extent traumatic, since he isn't the bravest person to come around.
"hey, do you live around here or something?" jin asked.
jungkook shook his head, "no, my grandma does though, and i'm living with her at the moment, but i need to give you back your shorts."
eyes wide, seokjin was about to question why, but then the memory of him not packing every clothing item into his barrel bag answered for him. earnestly, he smiled and watched as jungkook unravelled his own bag, taking out the recognisable football shorts then handing it to him.
seokjin looked jungkook directly in the eye, "thanks." before he continued to follow his tracks, he noticed the rosy colour faintly brushed across jungkooks cheeks. but quickly assumed it was the cold becoming a bit too much for the younger.
"see ya," he waved off, and trodded to his own home, only five minutes away.
